NNP: Can I have your opinions, please?

First off, I'd like to say that I have so much respect for nurses as a whole and cannot wait to be amongst your ranks.

I'm a pre-nursing student working on a career Power Point presentation about my "ultimate career choice" Ultimately, I would like to become a NNP. My question to you all is, what areas do you think would be most important for me to cover during my presentation. So far, I plan to cover: education, job outlook, and define the role of a NNP. If there is anything you feel would be important for me to cover during my presentation I'd really appreciate the input. Also, if you would like to provide me with any of your personal experience's of journey to becoming a NNP I would love to hear it.

Thank you for your time.

Well, congrats on that.
But, there's nothing more you would cover, if you were doing the report?

I'm getting ready to start my NNP clinicals(yikes and I would add to your power point why you want to be a NNP, versus any other NP. I have many many stories of how I got to this point, and many many patient's on the road to this degree, but there's too many to list here. Just remember to always be honest, trust your gut instincts, and no matter what anyone says...reach for your dreams!

Good idea. Thanks, for the response. And, good luck to you in clinicals! That must be very exciting. Also, thanks for the encouragement...I appreciate it.

How about a brief history of the development of neonatology as a specialty?

You might want to clarify the differences between the roles of Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist and Neonatal Clinical Nurse Leader. It opens up a bit of controversy ... but if that's your chosen career path, it is something you should be well-aware of so that you can make an informed choice and have realistic expectations.

Also, your audience is probably totally unaware of the different types of advanced practice roles and may learn something valuable for their own career deliberations if you add this content to your presentation.
