Hey can anyone tell me how I can get started in NICU nursing? I am a so called new RN grade. I graduated in Dec of 2008. I really want to work in NICU but no one will hire me. I have call and most places will hire new grads into NICU but yet no one will. What do I need to do? Any special training that I could get to help? PLEASE someone help me!!!!!

My best advice is to simply "sell yourself". I find that specialty units are the hardest for new grads to enter without experience unless they know someone. Let the employer know what's gonna set you apart from others with experience. Be confident! and most importantly DO NOT give up and feel defeated.

Usually you have to do an internship or orientation program. If you get an offer w/o one, be very wary!! You graduated a while ago so have a good explanation of why you haven't work (if that is the case). Good luck!
