MANY years back, I signed circ consents for my kids when I was in labor...didn't even know the sex of the baby. I believe that they would have been circ'd in the DR-Thankfull, I don't think that this is done anymore. This was back during the "doctor's as gods era"

VERY few insurances pay for cosmetic surgery. These people's hospital bill is going to be through the roof as it is, why add an out of pocket expense? Let alone an necessary surgery during critical care. I would be shamed of a doctor that would be willing to do it...

I am in 100% support of circumcision.

However, I don't think that circumcising a baby on a vent is a smart decision.

If a baby is on a vent, it is not stable.

To me, that is bad medical practice.

Period.

If I were that nurse, no way would I have been a party to that.

Insurance companies pay for circumcisions.

Never saw one that refused to pay for it.

I know in many states, including mine, Medicaid won't pay for it. I really don't know about private insurance companies.

In my state, Medicaid will pay for circ's and all the major insurance companies do cover it.
