busy or slow

Just wondering if anyone is seeing a downward trend in the number of mulitiples or just a general census decline? If so for how long in your NICU?

Haven't noticed a slowdown around here, tons of twins, several triplets, sometimes more. . . Could be in your area some of the infertility specialists are doing things differently?

We are not slow, no really sick ones, but we are way overbabied! We have had a run of 30-35 weekers, if they've been on vents, it's not been for long. Some have just been in-and-out Curosurfed. We have a good set of triplets, a couple of sets of twins, a couple of twins whose sibs already went home. And a whole bunch of singleton grower-feeders! It's more than job security. If you want overtime, we can use you! But there is a hiring freeze.....

We're busy...not so many multiples right now. We go in spurts. Haven't seen as many infertility ones since the economy went belly up!

We don't have a lot of vents, but the ones we have are doozies! Lots of kids that have just decided that eating is very overrated lol

We (finally) slowed back down to normal after being crazy/busy all year. Our census is back to normal, but our acuity is still really high. A few really sick kids and a few really time-intensive chronics do wonders for staffing...

It has been busy here all year long except for a minor lull the end of May/first of June. Multiples are hit and miss and seem to go in spurts. We had an influx of 23-26 weekers the beginning of August that have been very chanllenging. 5 sets of twins over the past 6 weeks with the last set getting ready to go home withing a week.

We've been REALLY busy! Haven't had many multiples, lots of twins with fetal demise recently (seems odd). And we've had lots of tiny ones 23-24wks

This whole week we've gotten nothing but sick term kids. Which is always a nice surprise addition to the census. At least with the preterms, you have somewhat of a warning as to their admission. And all of these term kids have been really sick. A few bad mec aspirates, an unknown cardiac / other anomolies, and an unknown diaphragmatic hernia (that was fun....)

We have been kicking a$$ since around July 4th and haven't slowed down except for about 5 days at the end of August. Crazy busy with multiples and lots of 30-36 weekers and a sprinkling of 26-28 weekers. There is no end in sight right now. All this happened after a very long, very dry stretch for the previous 6-8 months.
