VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

I called Helen Fuld this morning to ease my mind since their program seems to be the quickest way to get the RN through VEEB. The admissions director told me you have to have at least an 85 in EVERY course and be recommended by the faculty. You will then graduate from Veeb in August and start their program three months later in November. You then graduate from Helen Fuld the following year as an RN. Sounds good.

I was on their site today and pretty much gathered the same info! What's that saying about "Great Minds....LOL"!

Nothing worth having in life is easy! I'm going to try my hardest to go that route. I don't have time to waste!

This is great!

Yes, I am also considering to try this as well. So greatful you mention this....

Instead of going to Jacksonville w/ a hole lot of debt. I should become an RN,and get a better benefit package offer. Keeping an 85 average for all class is not bad. The credits are transferable???

Jacksonville, will allow me to get my BSN much faster than traditional w/ the RN license. I've been reading the whole board trying to find a faster route. This is wayyyyy better. Thanks guys!

I believe you guys can do it...both of you seems so motivated.

I need a loan because VEEB seems to pop up with charging you for everything. I will have to worry about getting good grades and don't want to have to worry about money as well. I got a letter from CHASE about college loans 877-223-8025. They told me VEEB is not in their "School approved list." I called the financial aid guy to tell him that Chase loan department will be contacting the school to get the school added. He stated that would be fine. You may borrow up to $40,000. I have a bachelors and will not qualify for financial aid. I will have to leave my job and struggle being a wife and mother to a six-year old. I've never taken out a loan before and feel that this will be my best choice.

I use to work for JP Morgan Chase their educational loan are not bad. I had to leave to find a part time job for Veeb. The interest rate is fair, like most government loans. Your credit rating is not really as important. It's a standard or set rate offering. That's another you can try, but before requesting the loan....you should really find out during orientation how much they are willing to offer you. Veeb can't tell w/ out looking at your financial status. You might not need to take out to much; this will also give you opportunity to take out for Helen Fluid in November.

Taking out a loan isn't horrible. Just as long as you pay it back when you can. Their are some doctors who will not even finish paying. They will owe the government until death, but you do what has to be done. In addition, once your done you will have the opportunity to pay it back. You are going into a good career. Don't worry take out the loan if you haven't done it before. Trust me. However, if you plan to finish your education after your Rn license make sure you find a facility which will give you educational reimbursement.

You'll find away...I know you will.

veeb & helene fuld college have an articulation agreement which would allow you to bypass a few of their admission requirements. new students usually have to have a years worth of work experience as an lpn , pass the reading, writing, & math entrance exam, as well as a written practical nursing equivalency test. with the articulation you would skip all that and (if you pass the nclex-pn) immediately begin the one prerequisite after graduation and begin classes in november.

their program consists of 4 (10 week) sessions so if your enrolled full-time you'd be an rn in a little less than a year.

Helene Fuld also has articulation agreements with the following baccalaureate nursing programs:

College of Mount St. Vincent, Riverdale, NY; College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, NY; Dominican College of Blauvelt, Blauvelt, NY; Herbert H. Lehman College, Bronx, NY; Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, Brookville, NY; Medgar Evers College, Brooklyn, NY; Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY; New York University, NYC; Pace University, NYC and Pleasantville, NY; and SUNY Institute of Technology, Utica, NY.

I know I have practically memorized Helene Fuld's website since I've heard about their articulation with Veeb two months ago. I was looking into Molloy since I have a BA already, but I'm not sure if VEEB has an articulation with a BSN program. Do you know?

That I don't know. Do let us know if you find out, though.

Actually, I'm at helene fuld, my advice to you guys is have your pre-reqs finished before you apply into the program such as intro to psych, sociology, A&P, etc, so when you enter the program all u will have to do is RN classes. It will be a lot cheaper. Here is something to think about, if you get into 1199 union after one year of working for them, the union will pay up to 6 credits for non nursing courses(A&P etc.) per semester, and 9 credits per term for nursing courses. If you decide to work for the city HHC, they will pay your entire tution and full time salary, while you are in school, but you have to give them 2 years after you finish nursing school. I'm just letting you guys know the financial options after you graduate LPN school. One more thing, you may get exempt form the entrance exam @ HF, but to get into nursing program you have to pass Selected Topics in MATH&Chem course.

Does not having your pre-reqs completed prior to entering Helen Fuld extend the program past a year or does the year include the time it would take to complete the pre-regs???

Did you transfer directly from an LPN program or did you have a years worth of LPN work experience????

Thanks for the info!

The year program @ HF does include the combination of preqs and nursing courses, you can extend it to 18 mon or 2 year program. It would be v. hard to work, if you were taking 21 credits per term with the year program. You are not matricalated into the program until you have pass the math&chem course which is a ten week course. Alot of students take preq @ community colleges, then when they come into the program, all they have to take is the nursing courses. I did work for a year before I applied into the program, and have opted for the 18 mon program.

Hi everyone....

Can you please let me know what month you took the entrance exam for Veeb. I took my exam in March and currently there is a hold on the registration process for them to fill the seats in an orderly manner.:angryfire
