University of Rochester Accelerated Nursing Program - ABPNN

U.S.A. New York

I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!

Nikki,

Was she talking about those scholarship too, the ones they included in the acceptance packet, or just loans?

THanks

I just asked about the loans..I'm not sure about the scholarships. If they are awarded they may be included in your financial aid package, or you may be notified separately. Good luck!

Thanks for the response Nikki! Yikes, that is a long time to wait. I'm really excited but feeling a little nervous and stressed. I feel like I should wait to look for a place until I know if I'll be getting financial aid...

I feel like I remember being told that we would find out about those scholarships in mid-march. Does anyone else recollect this?

I know! I feel the exact same way. I was actually on the wait-list and I just recently found out that I made it! I am so excited but I am nervous that I will not have enough loans in time. How is anyone getting the money to go? Please Please Please help! Any suggestions would be lovely.

Katy, I honestly have not even looked into money issues yet. I figure I won't know what to ask for in private loans until I get my financial aid package, so I woudn't even know where to start at this point...I remember getting approved for loans literally overnight when I was in grad school so I was thinking things might still work the same. Am I being naive?

Hey guys,

So I guess maybe I should be freaking out too? I dunno, I am not that worried about getting loans. Did you guys fill out fafsa and find out your EFC (expected family contribution)? If it said 0 or low, then you should be awarded federal loans. If you are thinking you will need private loans, I did mine through Salli Mae for college and have not had any problems so far...they were actually really understanding when I was unemployed and couldn't pay!

I submitted my fafsa back in February. I don't remember what my EFC was but I imagine it's 0 (can we check that online?). Salli Mae is a good idea, I've heard good things about them.

Yep, this is what I was told also.

I can't believe we have to wait until the month before school starts to find out about financial aid though... blah :(

Hello everyone! I too have been accepted into the ABPNN May program. I am currently living in Los Angeles and preparing for a cross country move. Luckily, I am originally from Rochester so that makes the move a little easier. Anyway, I saw some people looking for places to live. I have found a house that is literally right across the street from the school which is a huge bonus. My family was able to go check it out and meet the landlords for me. The landlords are very friendly and the house is nice. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom so I am looking for 2 other roommates. If anyone is interested send me a message! The landlords also have another 3 BR/2BA house that is about a 7 min walk from the school that is available so I can also pass along that information too.

Good luck with everything and look forward to meeting all of you!

Hey LindsayT,

That sounds so awesome! One of my main priorities in terms of living is to be close to the school especially because of the winters there. Unfortunately, I do not have up to 15 posts yet, so I can not PM you, but I am definitely interested in case I do not get chosen in the lottery. I will try and get up to 15, so I can send you my contact information.

Hi Lindseyt! I would also be very interested. I can't pm you either though. I would love to be close to the school so I will try and get 15 posts asap. :)
