I guess I spoke too soon!

I received a phone call this afternoon saying I was accepted! She said they are sending out official letters probably at the end of next week but it sounded like they were calling people to let them know before the letters come out as well.

I am a male from California and I got a call on Friday afternoon letting me know I was admitted to the May cohort. I am very excited! Has anyone thought about housing yet?

The area right around the school is not bad at all! However there aren't really apartment buildings just house apartments (which I prefer). When searching on craigslist look places near the University of Rochester or Strong Memorial Hospital (sometimes called the "white-coat ghetto" because so many of the med students/residents/nursing students live there). Also don't be too worried about potentially living surrounded by undergrads, very few live off campus. This area is also pretty affordable.

If you don't want to live in the city and would prefer a suburb and/or have a family and are concerned about schools, Brighton is nice (~20min away) but will be more expensive.

If you want to be in the "trendy" area of Rochester the Park Ave neighborhood or the South Wedge both are filled with young professionals, cool places to eat and drink, and are within a 10min drive. I actually bike in to Strong every day from the South Wedge and it takes 17min.

Parking on campus is both really expensive and very limited so if you are up for biking/walking I recommend it.

Thank you for the detailed message. I really appreciate it. That info helped tremendously. I have been looking online and i think the south wedge neighborhood is tops on my list. It seems like there is lots to do on those occasions where we want a little reprieve from the doldrums of studying. If you don't mind me asking some more questions...do you live in an apartment or house right now? I am leaning towards a 2 bedroom apartment that I could hopefully share with another nursing student. Also, for those accepted have you received the packet in the mail??

i just reread my last post and i realized my question really didnt make any sense. What i meant was do you think it is better to try to rent a house or an apartment or does it really make a difference?

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! I received my admissions packet last week (I'm in California). I can't believe we only have until Feb 3rd to put down the deposit. Anyone know if the check has to be postmarked or received by that date? Or is there a way we can pay through credit card?

I'm still torn on my decision since $600 is a lot and I'm still waiting to hear back from schools. And Rochester's ABSN program has a hefty price tag, even compared to other expensive programs nearby. Has anyone decided to attend this program and can tell me how they're justifying paying so much for it?
