University of Rochester Accelerated Nursing Program - ABPNN

U.S.A. New York

I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!

Depends on the course. Some books are almost identical. Some are very different. In both cases the instructors do not accommodate for the older edition so you need to find the corresponding page numbers yourself.

Are there any NY State residents here? Can anyone comment on the TAP grant and if we are eligible to receive it?

Hi everyone!

I just had my interview. I think it went well..I hope! Haha. It was conversational as others have said so that was good. She said they're hoping to have letters out by December!

TEXTBOOK question:

Anyone know which textbooks we'll be using for the first semester? I'm trying to see if I can buy them off a friend of if the editions have changed and I need to buy the newer ones.

URredux... Good question... I just checked the bookstore and they are not online yet. Seems like it should be soon or maybe we'll get an e-mail.

hi everyone! i am hoping for acceptance to the ABPNN for a start date of may 2012. anyone else out there in the same boat? i just had my interview this week in person and i think it went well. my interviewer said they wanted all interviews done by dec. 1st and letters should be sent out sometime in january. eeeeek! good luck to everyone!

has anyone applied to binghamton's BAT program? i was just informed that i've been accepted! now it's going to be between there and UR if i get accepted. UR is soooo pricey, can anyone give me info as to if their UR nursing education is worth the cost or am i better off getting SUNY tuition??

thanks for any help, i appreciate it!

I haven't finished the whole program so I can't give you a complete review. I would suggest sticking with the SUNY tuition. I don't have any major complaints or problems with the ABPNN, but I don't believe it's worth the financial cost. Everything is just OK/good but not great/fantastic like you would expect to get when you're spending $60k+. If the BAT is the same type of program in terms of time length then I'd go with that. Why pay significantly more money to get the same result? Programs can be advertised as unique, more personalized, etc but your experience is what YOU make of it an what you do with the opportunities you get. You're not getting anything special by choosing a pricier program.

I agree with mzrn662 above. The enormous fee of $60K does not get you four times better an experience than the $15K paid at public schools. I am currently in the program and I can tell you it is not worth what they charge. For those who did not get in consider it a blessing and move on. Please be advised that transferring credits from UofR to other schools is difficult and I suspect that this was not by accident. So I would go with BAT.

Hi,

I'm completing the program. The education that comes with the 60k cost isn't exceptional. Double check the clinical hrs, and simulation, clinical instructor to student ratio, capstone hrs offered at other schools to compare the differences and similarities. The one good thing about the school is if you're interested in working in the affiliated hospitals, and general upstate most institutions know the school and faculty so that helps. However, if you're looking for anywhere else out of state, even within state like nyc the career center, which consist of one lady is lacking.

Hey has anyone heard anything?

Nothing. I'm staring to get nervous.

haven't heard anything yet either. waiting (im)patiently...!

where else did you guys apply?
