Anyone else applying to the accelerated BSN?? Deadline is November 1st ... YIKES! ... ... need moral support :D !!

Hi! I applied too! The only other school I applied to in NY was Columbia. I can't wait for either decision!!! I'm glad we can wait together...

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.
Hi Paco!

You are not on here alone. I also applied for the July 2010 program. I guess we will know by New Years?

Awesome! Good luck to you KK318! Yes, we should hear something @ that time! Trying not to think about it too much though .. I am trying to focus on next semester's classes, the last of my prereqs!

No, not alone! I applied to Stony Brook as well. Not sure if it's my top choice or not, but am certainly anxious to know whether I'm in or not.

Good luck Meredith09! UCF here in Florida is actually my top choice, and that is a cost decision (in-state tuition is cheap, though the program is VERY competitive due to that). I won't however be applying there until Jan and that's possibly after Stony Brook sends out decisions. But if the decision is positive and I can swing the cost even as a non-resident, I would consider Stony Brook for sure. I used to be a NYS resident and to think I have to now pay non-res sucks, but so is life!

Do anyone know what kind of background they are looking for? Also, if there is a preference in students in science related undergrad degrees?

I actually have no idea, an admitted student would probably give you the best insight into this. I do recall there being some students on other threads who were accepted to Stony Brook with non-science degrees so I would have to assume it's not as important as your performance on the prereqs! Good luck to you too Mac00 in case you applied.

The wait begins, good luck to you too xtine009! I was actually going to apply to Columbia ETP, it was my 1st choice for a while, but the cost really scared me off. I heard they provide a generous scholarship to almost all students (great endowment I assume) but the balance was still a bit prohibitive for me. I hate that cost is a big factor for me, but no way around it. Columbia however IS my ONLY choice when I am ready to pursue NP. Less credits required and hopefully there will be some reimbursement opportunities once I am employed as an RN.

Specializes in CNA in LTC, Hospital.

I am waiting to hear back from sbu too...my friend who is in med school says she thought the application was the hardest part but then the waiting part came and she realized that it was the hardest part. I hate waiting..i hope I get in. I am planning on applying for the two year also but i have become so caught up in the anxiety for the 1 yr i havent even started my 2 year application. I am reading on this site how a lot of nurses cant find employment even with this supposed "shortage"..this sucks. i wish we werent in a recession, there was a greater change of getting in b4 the recession..the # of applicants has increased by at least 33%.

It does not matter. As long as you are a well rounded student. They look at essay, GPA, pre-reqs, and recommendations. I'm currently a student at Stony Brook and we have people who were English Majors to people who have master's in biology :)

I am in the same boat as all of you... bitting my nails and waiting, obsessing over what I should have do differently :) Lets keep everyone posted if we hear anything!

Anyone else hit that panic stage where you feel like you won't be accepted anywhere?? I have! :o

At least we can obsess here... because I know my family & friends are tired of hearing it!! :) I have been looking at community college associate programs and whining that I would have been easier to get into an MBA program :)!! We are all in the same boat, as my mom says stay positive because it sends positive energy into the universe!! A little wishy washie to me but I will take all the help I can get!!

The way I see it for ME, if it's meant to happen this year if at all, everything will fall into place. That's my mindset. I have been keeping myself quite busy thankfully with work, enough to not think about this impending application decision. But when I get moments of downtime however brief I throw the positive vibes out there! :D

I am just starting to hit that stage. The closer we get to new years the more nervous i am getting. I am trying to concentrate on my finals but this is quite distracting. I find myself constantly checking solar to see if anything has changed.

I don't think they notify you of acceptance via solar do they....?....I thought it was via snail mail.

yeah it is via mail..but i heard that the application portion disappears and student information comes up..a friend who got into the OT program told me that is how she first knew she was in

Great something else for me to obsessively check now :) I am making my boyfriend get the mail everyday because I cant handle the suspense!! :) I called yesterday and they said they received many applications and we would not hear until the end of December the earliest :(
