I'm surprised a thread for the upcoming class of 2014 has not been created yet (or has it). Well here it is!!! Good luck to all

Happy new year everyone!!! I hope all our nursing dreams come true this new year as we all wait for decisions from stony brook. I hope it's great news for everyone. I was accepted into university of buffalo's accelerated nursing program but its so far away from me (i'm in nyc, queens to be exact). I really hope stony accepts me but in case they don't, does anyone know anything about the abs program at ub? Any info will help. Thank you

I am really hoping though that Paco's prediction will be wrong and SB will have turned over a new leaf :) We'll just have to wait and see though. If not, there will definitely be some ranting on here!
Yes, I hope I am wrong too ... but if not, I look forward to the rants

Hi everyone! I never commented before but here I am lol. I also applied to SB. I actually got accepted to NYU and already paid for Spring 2013 at NYU but I havebeen having major second thoughts. It's costing me 22k JUST in tuition JUST for this spring. This doesn't include books or rent or anything else. So I am hoping I got into SB. One day left until we possibly and hopefully hear. I'm ready to withdraw all my loans from NYU and head to SB where I'd get just as great an education for more than 3/4 the price!!

I was going back and reading the posts from last year and it looks like rejections were sent out first and people who were accepted didn't hear for days or even weeks later so maybe hopefully we wont hear soon!
Paco, did you receive an e-mail right away when you were accepted/rejected or will it show up on SOLAR first?

I got the email saying I should check SOLAR about 2 or 3 days later. When you check SOLAR, if you log in and your main menu has a lot more boxes than before, especially one that refer to "new student" and paying a deposit, that's a good sign :)Sent from my Android phone using allnurses.com

Thanks Paco! I guess I'll start obsessively checking SOLAR tomorrow! I'm really not looking to this week :/

Hey Chele - a few questions for you! I, too, applied last yr to both the one yr and the two yr and was not accepted I have reapplied to both programs but naturally am hoping for acceptance to the one yr! I retook two courses that I did not have A's in and achieved A's, I joined a pediatric team in my hometown as a med asst and I joined the CFC program at SBU children's as a volunteer... I am hoping this proves my dedication and willingness to "do whatever it takes" to get in... did you alter your essay and/or grades? What is your undergrad GPA? You must be freaking out like me! Good luck to you, I feel good things coming our way!

Hi Kace,
I altered my essay slightly. I got what I believe are better recommendation letters. I didn't retake any classes because my undergrad gpa was a 3.2 and I received an A in all my other prereq's for this program, with the acceptation of a B and a B+. I have been working for SB for the past year as a nursing assistant as well. I've volunteered in the past at a local hospital and am currently volunteering with a dog rescue where I am the foster program director for the past 4 years. This is my third year in a row applying to both programs. I made it onto the alternate list last year, so I'm really hoping that this year is my year! I'm not freaking out as much as I did the past two years. Good luck, I hope we will be in class together. :)

CONGRATS!! I got accepted as well!!
The only sucky part though is that we have only 10 days to respond I applied to Binghamton as well, so I hope Binghamton will let us know soon. But for now, I'll be celebrating!! Hope to hear of more acceptances :)
Congrats to you too!!! I'm sure you will have luck with Binghamton also . When do you find out?
I was accepted!!! It seriously can't believe it. I read the email like 5 times already! Thank you to everyone especially Paco, you gave me great tips about the importance of the LORs and personal statement but also the courage to apply with a not so amazing GPA :). Can't wait to meet everyone!
