Yes. I am so incredibly happy that I have at least one option. I didn't get in last year, so that was a big blow, but NYU also seems to accept a majority of its applicants so perhaps it just doesn't feel as "special." I don't know, maybe that sounds ridiculous, but either way, it hasn't even sunk in yet, haha.

I had daily panic attacks too waiting to hear back from Stony Brook! I'm in the 2 year program at SB now and I was wait-listed for the 1 year. I heard back from the 1 year on February 13th (it's pathetic how I remember the date lol) and I heard back from the 2 year program in May I think. They will send you e-mails updating you on the admissions process. I had a 4.0 in my pre-reqs and had no hospital experience but a lot of volunteer experience. I worked in a chiropractor's office for 4 years and that was the extent of my medical experience. Like many people have said, your personal statement and references have to really stand out and I think that your volunteer experience will help too. I would highly suggest applying to both programs since that is what a woman from admissions had told me years ago and although I really wanted the 1 year program at first, the 2 year program is definitely better suited for me because it's a lot of work.
If you have any questions though I will try my best to answer them since I know I was on this website at least 10 times a day when I was waiting to get a response and it really did calm my nerves sometimes!

I feel like February is so far away. Honestly the stress is really getting to me, every day is a battle for me. I literally day dream about how I would react if I get a small envelope vs. a package from Stony Brook! Unfortunately I don't really have too many options because I am a single mom. At this point a two year program isn't even an option. Stony Brook is the only place I can afford right now and it is within distance to my mother who watches my child but she will be leaving the state soon (hence, no two year program). I know I shouldn't bank on getting into Stony Brook but it's the only hope I have right now. If I don't get in I will probably move to another state where I can afford to live. I just don't really see any other affordable options. A lot of other schools require bio-chem which I didn't have time to take before the start of the programs. I will be starting micro in January and then that will complete my pre-reqs for SBU. I'm happy for you though! Congratulations, some things are just meant to be!

Last year they didn't send anything in the mail if you didn't get in, just an email. I don't know what they did for the acceptances. This is my 3rd year in a row applying to both the 1 year and 2 year programs. I'm hoping the third time is a charm!!! It's so competitive. They get about 600 applications for about 65 spots! I just found out that I got into NYU's accelerated program. Obviously a whole lot more expensive than SBU, but it starts in January (so by the time I'll even HEAR from SBU, I'll be 5 months into the program.) I really need to figure out what I want to do. Hopefully I'll hear from other schools before I have to give NYU a decision.

I was attending LIU in Brooklyn's accelerated bsn and I had to withdraw after the first semster because I was unable to affort the 16,000$ semesters. I have some friends in the program who wanted to get into NYU but they did not. If you can afford the tuition NYU gets all the private hospitals in manhattan and the city. From what I heard its an amazing opportunity which will open up doors for you with a great pay if you make connections in you clinicals. I as well just applied to both the 1yr and 2yr programs. I was attending LIU's accelerated program and I would look into it carefully. The reason I withdrew was that it was to expensive and I was commuting from the island. I will let you know that it was a semster from hell and not because it was accelerated. The nursing department is extremely unorganized and most of the staff are very unhelpful. My friends that are still in the program hate it but for obvious reason need to just stick it out and finish it. Everthing is a problemand no one gives you any answer. If you do choose to attend stay on top of everything your self including you application status and all of you paper work. Make copies of everything because multiple people in my program were withdraw from there clinicals becauase the lady who handles it said she never got anyof it. Luckily they had copies. My experience with the professor where great. But like I said the administration part is a mess. Good luck

after reading the SBU summer 2013 thread, i see some familiar users on this one. but good luck to everyone!! i just graduated from bing this past may with bachelors in bio and applied to both bing and stony's accelerated nursing programs. they moved the deadline to an earlier date, but i hope the days will go by quickly. i feel like once jan 1st comes around, we'll be checking SOLAR more often lol.

has anyone else applied to binghamton's BAT program as well? looking for feedback in terms of which one they may prefer. both are hard to get into, so i hope i get into at least one, esp since i had the pre-reqs to apply to only 2 sadly

P.S. i spent the last 2 hours reading the 83-pg thread for the stony brook BSN summer 2013 thread. a lot of good info there!

CONGRATS MINDYLANE!!! thats fantastic news. its good to have options, even if theyre expensive options. just weigh the pros and cons. go with ur heart. and definitely keep us posted :)

I also applied to both programs but I'm not sure which program is better. I will personally prefer Stony brook because the commute will be better for me but I will work with whichever one I get. Goodluck to us all.

im from nyc, so with either bing or stony, ill have to find an apt (either on or off-campus, tho i prefer off since it'll be cheaper) to live in. but yeah i agree. ill work with whichever program accepts me. i did my undergrad in bing, so i have a slightly higher preference for bing since im familiar with the area and such. but beggars cant be choosers

Thanks for the info Corrine611. I actually realized I had to stay on top of them the hard way. No matter who I spoke with I couldn't get a straight answer. I did not get into NYU- I'll try again when I do my MSN. I am however in a weird position that in a way benefits me. Please help with any advice. So here it is to go into the professional phase of LIU I must complete one or two classes ( which no one has made aware to me as of yet, no that I that I think about it I still haven't received a acceptance letter or email it's just me checking on my app online. ) I will take the required courses during the spring. Which is when I'll wait for my decision from umdnj and sb. However, I live in bk so that's a good thing for liu. I may also be able to maintain my Fulltime job which is an overnight shift(any thoughts) however my sister lives in jersey city and the location isnt far from umdnj. Sb I have been told is great , from alumni and other people and my check but and credit score will love the cost. All thoughts are welcome. I just want to be a midwife by any means necessary :).
