Stony Brook Accelerated BSN Class of 2014

U.S.A. New York

Published

I'm surprised a thread for the upcoming class of 2014 has not been created yet (or has it). Well here it is!!! Good luck to all :p

Well, third year in a row I am rejected. I don't understand how I can make it to the alternate list last year and not only not get in this year, but not make it to the alternate list either. Oh well, guess I'll keep working and try again next year. Now I'll wait on the 2 year decisions again. :( At least my not getting in, means someone else got in.

chele118, i'm sorry to hear that! but don't beat yourself up. it's just really hard to get into the program. and if 2 years ago, there were 700 applicants applying for 64 seats (or something like that), i'm sure the number of applicants have increased even more this year. it's also possible you got into the 2 year program, so don't despair yet!

when did you receive notice from them? did you get an email today, just right now? or did you check SOLAR? b/c i haven't heard yet and keep refreshing all my tabs... argh.

I received an email just a few minutes ago, but SOLAR has not been updated yet.

I just got my rejection email. the info is on solar too.

Yeah, when I went back in it was up. :( Did you apply to the 2 year as well?

No. But maybe I should have! I'm still waiting on other schools so maybe I fared better with them but I really wanted to go to SB because it has a superior nursing program and is the most affordable. At least, we found out today. I don't think I could manage worrying about it for a whole week. *sigh* I am going to step away from the computer now and try to stay positive!!! Best of luck to you in regards to admissions decisions from other schools.

Im Sorry

Chele, I have followed your posts throughout the forum and I, too, was rejected today. Last night I had a weird feeling that I would get a rejection letter today and that I was meant to be in the two year program. I think you and I will STILL be classmates and that the two year program is our calling. You will still be able to work as a CNA at least part-time and keep your health insurance while going to school to be an RN with adequate breaks! I think the 1 yr is tough on us and the 2 yr will be easier to manage. What is your shift at SB? I am on the CFC Committee and sometimes visit the Advancement Team there for meetings and updates. Maybe we could meet at Starbucks one day? Don't be sad.. everything in life happens for a reason and I just know your time is soon.

GoVeg, what was your GPA?

awws sorry to hear about that :( no matter how old you get, rejections are never easy to deal with. but im confident that things will work out. if you want something bad enough, you wont give up.

they send out acceptance emails. when you go on SOLAR, they have more tabs and links like "admission decision response". my last name starts with L. not sure if they do it in any particular order and they did say theyll be sending out decisions from jan 7 to jan 11, so try to hang in there! waiting is brutal, yes.

@Paco-RN (or to anyone who may know): if you click "accept the admission" but later change your mind, do they charge you some sort of fee? do they require you to make a deposit once you click "accept"? basically, i want to know if there's leeway or do they make you commit to the decision you choose?

For everyone accepted I created a Facebook page; Stony Brook University ABSN 2014

I work for the State Veterans Home across the street from the Hospital. My shift is evening, 3-11:30. I work on one of the dementia units, and I love it, so it's not so bad that I didn't get in, I get to keep working there longer. I love my residents.
