Stony Brook Accelerated BSN class of 2013

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey all! Just wanted to lend my support to anyone else who is applying to SB next summer! It's a grueling process :-)):yeah:

Wow this program is very competitive ....how can one stand out during this process?

Is it better to apply to the 2yr program instead of the 1 yr porgram as one who has a bachelor degree?

What about the waitling list people....how long will it take?

Hi Emer1234,

I live in the city and get accepted to Stony Brook.

Is the commute terrible? What did you think of it? Clinicals far?

THANKS!

Depends where in the city you live. I commute from Hollis Queens which is about 5 minutes from Nassau County in LI, and it takes me on average about 50 mins door to door. Clinicals are for the most part either at Stony Brook, or in towns that are close to Stony Brook (10-15 mins from the campus). Keep in mind that clinicals start at 7am, so those days you have to leave extra early.

Thanks! I live in Harlem. Do you think that would work?

How do you like the program?

Is it extremely challenging or manageable?

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

Good luck. I hate long commutes, I live 30 min away from the campus right now and I hate it. Looking to move closer. I graduated with someone that commuted from Staten Island ... I don't know how in the world she managed that, but she sure did!

It is both extremely challenging, but it can also be managable. Just know that you're going to be spending a considerable amount of your day (which you could be utilizing to study) on the road and often times in trafic. Is living on campus or getting a 1 year lease around the area a possibility for you? I honestly don't recommend commuting from the city unless you absolutely have to.

Hi anniet828,

I know your last post was so long ago...

Did you end up going to Adelphi PATH program?

How is it??

Hi everyone,

I'm a little late to congratulate everyone who got accepted to either the one year or two year program! CONGRATS anyhow!!

I will be applying for the 2014 admission cycle. I have a 3.8 GPA in Psychology B.S. from SUNY Buffalo. I did some volunteering in hospitals a few years back but after graduation, I worked as a full time paralegal at a law firm... SBU is one of my top choices..

For those who have been accepted, can you please share your stats, GPA, major, work experience. I would love to get some insight and feedback or any suggestions you guys may have.

I'm honestly nervous because it seems grades aren't everything but because I worked more in a law setting, my chances may be greatly hindered compared to others.

Please share! :)
