St Paul's School of Nursing Jan/Spring 2012?

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi,

I am applying to Saint Paul's School of Nursing for the Spring Semester that begins Jan 3, 2012. Anyone else?? :yeah:

Hi how are you. Congrats! My question is, can you please tell me what the application process was like? What was their testing like? What should I brush up on most? What are they really looking for in terms of credentials? Do I have to have an A+ HIGH SCHOOL transcript? What do they really look at most?

I'm wondering if there is a waiting list.

I have an appt with them in two weeks and anxious to know sooner. They don't offer much info over the phone nor on the website. So anything you can provide will be very much appreciated! Thanks! :)

Read the entire thread of this post and also search for of SPSON threads, there is tons of info that will answer all your questions

this is the other thread that had all the steps of the application process

hello i was accepted to st pauls for the fall but declined i am too nervous about them not being accredited and the thread st. pauls 2010 combined scared me away. now that being said i have heard good things about the school mostly bad but i can tell you the hesi is simple i am horrible in math and still scored a 90 percent in math and 95 in reading/grammer and vocabulary section buy the book they offer and you will do fine.

if you don't mind me asking being that you have your lpn why don't you go to a school thats accredited by nlnac already you can even find some online lpn to rn or lpn to bsn programs. i am not trying to discourage you about st pauls just giving you my opinion on the program i would go there in a heart beat if they were accredited but being an associate degree program and not accredited is a double negative to me i know i am not a nurse but i have been searching jobs and new grad programs and they all want bsn's and a few state you must be a graduate of an nlnac accredited school so i have decided to take my pre req's at a cuny school and then proceed to a school thats accredited if st. pauls is accredited by then i may well reapply.

now to more answer your question i didn't have an a+ in high school more b and the little bit of college credits i did have were b's so thats that.

good luck to you :)

Hi all -- received official acceptance letter today (7/18). Just a simple letter stating that I'm officially accepted into the school's evening nursing program. Orientation is Aug 29 with first day of classes Aug 30. More information will follow as stated in the letter.

An issue came up 2 weeks ago when I went in to hand in my medical documentation. They said I would have to take CPR course ASAP in order to be accepted into the program. I didn't hesitate and signed up to take the CPR course they offer (cost $100 - which is higher than other sites that offer same course but those were already filled up for atleast 2 more weeks). I felt a little annoyed because in the pre-admission letter it said we need to be CPR certified before classes start. Anyway, I took the class they offer and the other prospective students also said they found out a week before (via phone calls) that they need to have the CPR course completed by 7/17. Anyone else had this issue?

Congrats to those accepted. I have had family and friends who attended this school (all within the past 2-3 yrs) who had great things to say about it. They have found jobs in hospitals (3 of them in ER) and other facilities.

I totally didn't take my CPR class yet...oops

Hi to everyone, I'm new to site and love the information I find on here.

Is there any Veterans on here that have attended St. Paul's? And how was the process with there Post 9/11 bill?

My orientation was so exciting to day and we received a wealth of information. This upcoming semester should be exciting for all of us incoming freshman and the new campus in Rego Park. I am excited for all of us to begin!!!

did they give you any info on where clinicals will be?

@ashley627 the director named some clinical sites most of them are in Queens there is only one in long island and none are available in Manhattan. We don't have the choice to choose where we want to attend clinicals according to the director. You can only switch with a fellow classmate if it is approved. There will only be seven clinical rotations first semester forty-two hours in total. That is really all we spoke about with clinicals.

well that should be interesting, any info on uniforms? Do we have to buy thru the school? sorry for all the questions lol, my orientation is on Thursday

@ashley627 uniforms are $10 for the top and $10 for the white bottom uniform pants and I assuming we can buy multiple pairs but you definitely have to buy the top they were not that specific on the white bottoms having to be brought from the school. There is a $100 supply kit for skills and clinicals and numerous books but you will see that on the handouts that they will give you Thursday. Are you going be a day student I am.

oh okay that's pretty reasonable, I'll def be buying a couple of tops, I am a day student, I have class everyday but Tuesday ( I guess that's the A&P class) I wonder if all the day student have the same schedule, are you going to buy the parking garage package? it looks a little far from the school
