Pace ABSN program starting 2013

U.S.A. New York

Published

I know it's early, but is anyone else looking at Pace's ABSN program to start in 2013? I'm 90% finished with my prerequisites and just getting the pieces together to start the application process!

I agree with the muffin. I already wrote before about the program and I will say it again. DO NOT WASTE TOUR TIME AND MONEY. THE PROGRAM IS STRESSFUL BUT THEY MAKE IT EVEN MORE SO AND THE FACULTY COULD CARE LESS. DO NOT GO!!

Message me if you would like to get more insight on the program. I will be more than happy to answer any questions that I can.

Just an FYI, interviews are still being held. I have one tomorrow.

Hey jaytphan,

I believe we were at the same interview today at 1:00pm. I was the girl in the bright cardigan. :)

Hey guys!

Those of you who are still waiting, I got called for an interview for the program today at 2:50pm pacific time. Did anyone else get called in for an interview? I live in California and requested if they could possible do a skype interview, but the lady who called said she will confirm with me tomorrow morning. At this moment, I am very uncertain about this program so I am unsure if I should even bother flying out if a skype interview is not acceptable. :(

Hey mschief,

I also don't know how to message because I'm brand new to this site! But any help the incoming class can receive would be awesome! Are there any other resources to get help in the classes? Is this program really as horrible as everyone is making it sound? Have the teachers been helpful to you at all? Thanks!!!

Hey Yourstruly_dm!

Yes, I believe we were in the same interview! I got accepted into the one year program, but I am very hesitant to accept their offer at this moment. I am still waiting to hear from other schools. I already left a deposit since this is the only school I got into so far, but I am hoping to hear from others considering the bad reviews from past and current students.

Hi Jaytphan,

I know exactly how you feel in terms of the bad reviews. I just received a call from one of the advisors saying that I was accepted and will need to submit my deposit asap. I was accepted to 2 other schools, in Philadephia and Stony Brook in Long Island, NY. I would most likely choose Stony Brook since it's the cheapest out of my choices and also has a good rep. Hope you hear back from your other choices soon.

So, I have a dilemma. I finally received an acceptance into Pace. Thiswas a very long process. I had an interview about a week ago, then I finalreceived notice that I had been accepted. However, I applied for the one yearand only received an offer into the two year. While waiting, I have beenaccepted into and Quinnipiac. I don't know what to do... After readingthe post here, I am very concerned about attending Pace. Is the program thatbad?

Although the nursing program is challengin, the faculty at the school are devoted to properly educating the future nurses. Remember that the NCLEX is the bare minimum standards to practice nursing. You don't want to prepare nurses to just meet the minimum standards, you want them to excel. The percentage for passing classess is higher for this reason. The pass rates for the past 3 years compared to NYC and the National Pass Rate:

I disliked the students that surrounded me because they cheated and acted to immaturely..." You didn't like ANY of the students..?

Hi,

My name is Jodi Ford, and I am a member of the class of Pace CDP 2013... you left out some incredibly important information. IT WAS PROVED BY THE UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION AND THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT OF PACE UNIVERSITY (ABOVE AND BEYOND THE SCHOOL OF NURSING) THAT THERE WAS IN FACT NO CHEATING. And you posted this after such information could have been shared here.

The nursing school administration made bad choices, yes. And they had to rescind them (though it happened in a convoluted manner and they certainly never apologized to us, which to me suggests huge and fragile egos).

Anyway, the program IS difficult. But I somehow have continued passing despite the intensity and despite coping with working full time during the part time program, 3 housing moves, 5 job changes due to layoffs and other complications, as well as a stalking roommate which involved me going to the police over the course of 4 months.

This ***** session above, while interesting, is not accurate. And the shortcomings that exist in this program do not outweigh it's benefits. And yes, it is expensive, so if you live in NYC and odn't want to pay so much, stick with CUNY.

The program is hard.

The "cheating scandal" was proved to not involve cheating but to involve a lack of due diligence by the administration about using unsecure test banks and then retaliating against students for their own laziness, and not apologizing afterwards. We were put through hell for 3 weeks, agreed. BUT THE STUDENTS WERE EXONERATED BY PACE UNIVERSITY, not just the Lienhard School of Nursing at Pace.

Let's realize my reputation and those of my fellow classmates matter more than your frustration here. Thank you. Oh, and we will all be looking for jobs, so your defamation of our collective character is pretty uncalled for.

It is an excellent program that in most ways I am proud to be graduating from. We get better clinical experience (despite this aspect of the education also not being perfect) than most other programs I am learning about through students I meet or recent grads. The clinical faculty are awesome, and the lecture faculty are are like 50% awesome and 50% mediocre. In any cohort and at any school you will find students you like and don't like. Just like in the rest of the world and workplace. You know what? I stick with the ones I like and identify with, and don't develop relationships with the folks I don't trust or don't understand.

I think the above comments are immature, myself, even though there may be some accurate and some interesting points made.

Hi nycgold87,

I am a member of this exact class, and I have found some really great people as well as some people I have no opinion of, and some people I choose to not interact with. Isn't that common in any setting? The blanket statements made by the person who flunked out of this cohort may not be accurate but just opinion. I would reccomend that the relationships you choose to make while in school are important and you should assume, just like in the professional world, you will people you connect with and value, along with people you do not connect with and do not come to value. Just use your own good judgement.

Jodi
