Hi all
Who will be applying here for NYU Spring 2016 semester. I heard the online application should be live 2nd week of August.

Also, does anyone know if there's a Facebook group or anything for our cohort group?

I'm also looking for roommates from the program to live with as well if anyone is interested. I'm very interested in stuyvesant town because it's close to the nursing school and I know a lot of NYU students live there as well.
@laurendiane for some reason I cannot send private messages on this site, do you have an email address where we could discuss possible living arrangements? Thanks!

If there is any NYU Traditional Transfers -->
I saw this on another thread :)
"I just called the admissions office because I have to respond to another school in by the 9th and I asked them about the status of my application and they said they would be sending out responses to 90% of their transfers by the middle of next week. She put a note on my app saying I'm in a time crunch so hopefully I'll find out by the end of this week, but she said most transfer applicants will hear back Dec 11, at the latest."

hey guys, what are y'all doing for housing? And did anyone attend the welcome meeting on Monday? For anyone who went, how was the simulation tour? What information did they go over? :)thanks in advance!
I wasn't able to do the simulation part of the tour and I am wondering about it as well.
I do know that:
1. The sims will be on one week and then clinical placement the following week on and off and according to the information should not be more than 8 people per instructor (is that correct)?
2. For new students the course registration takes place 2nd or 3rd week of december (not sure about transfer or current NYU students who I think have already registered and received clinical placement).
3. An overview of the entire program which classes and which semesters was distributed.
4. A Q&A by students who are currently in the program where they discussed the classes and expectations from professors.

Hey nanana, so I also received the $2,500 scholarship and a $3k pell grant, and about 5k in sub and unsub loans, I had to take out a private loan from Sallie Mae for the remaining balance. I also recieved work study for $1,500 but I declined it since it's 20 hours a week, and actually at the new student night they had this past Monday, people were asking about part-time jobs, and the current students basically said that it's really hard to do well with a part-time job, so I'm not taking any risks with that haha.
- Is this your first bachelors degree? I'm just curious, because if it's your first you should be eligible for more financial aid (meaning federal loans). I already have a BA in Biology, so FAFSA tends to give less for second degrees.
- Also, keep in mind that there are a lot of scholarships that will become available to apply for. I was looking at a lot of them on the NYU website and a lot of them require a GPA in nursing school since they're academic scholarships. I went down to the financial aid office last week and the woman there told me that they will continuously email us scholarships that we are eligible for. So even if we may have to pay more out of pocket this semester, there will be a lot more scholarships available once we've started nursing school.
- Last thing (sorry for the long post lol) I asked financial aid about something called a Federal Nursing Loan, and we're definitely eligible for it, irregardless of whether or not this is our second degree or not. They haven't divied up the loan yet, she said we will probably get it in time for the fall semester.
It was a pretty quick tour- they have about 3-4 rooms, two of them have about six beds with mannequins it looked just like a small ER room. They also had a small regular room with chairs thats supposed to simulate at-home visits or psych patients etc. They also have a control room where the instructor watches what you're doing from a bunch of different camera video feeds, as well as a two way mirror. I had asked the tour guide if we're allowed to go up there and practice on your own. You're definitely allowed to, and it's actually required during your first semester. They have time frames of when you can sign up to go and practice with an instructor watching you. My group was pretty quiet, so thats about all the info I have about it, sorry! :)

Hey Erika!
I've been checking this feed every week to see if anyone has heard anything lol.
I'm still waiting too, and am constantly looking for emails! haha
When I spoke to admissions last, they said that we would hear early december. So I think this means everything should be sent out by next week! Good luck!

For those asking about the schedule... I got my spring schedule and classes are distributed M-F. Morning class Monday, morning class Tuesday, afternoon class on Wednesdays, Thursdays: clinicals starting in Feb (every other week) 7:30-3:30 and stimulations (every other week) 8:00-1:00. I have been placed at a hospital in Brooklyn. Morning class and an afternoon class on Fridays.
I have come across a few nurses around NYC and all have said they really like NYU's nursing program and have heard great things about it. The administration at NYU has been helpful and I really like my advisor. There are weekly Newsletters sent out and the administrative staff seems to care (just based off of past emails sent). There have been many opportunities for nurses to give feedback and talk about possible changes for the better in the program.

Thank you for this @ eekxitsem - it helps alot actually as they said I won't be getting my schedule until late December but I know some schedules/placements are different.
Who is your advisor btw?
Onto the health forms!
My advisor is (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME). And yeah...those health forms! I have them all completed except the titers. Fun times. :)
