NYU Nurse Residency program

U.S.A. New York

Published

HI! I am a new grad and I am registered nurse in NJ. I moved from florida to NJ and I have been looking and applying for jobs for the past 2 months and I haven't gotten any interviews. I want to work in a maternal-child unit preferably NICU but I would take anything in that area. I've tried just about anything to make myself a better candidate for a positions but I just can't seem to land an interview. All the nurse recruiters keep telling me that the job market is really tough in NJ especially in the area I'm passionate about. I was just about to lose hope when I heard about the NYU nurse residency program. I sent in all my info, but when I spoke to the nurse recruiter she told me it would take them a month to contact me. I feel hopeless and out of ideas of what to do.

Does anyone know how many new grads they accept for the residency program?

How long does it take to get in?

Can you start in any position, or is just whatever they have?

I am desperate for advice......Thanx :uhoh3:

Hi LilyRose! Thank you so much for your reply. It seems like a great environment, and it's nice to hear about the ratios, etc (but yikes about the medical floor nights! lol ) Keep in touch and I'll let you know how it goes. :)

Lilia,

I would assume by this point that the July orientation class is definitely full, since I got hired to my job around this time last year, and I was in the September class. When you call, are they just telling you that July is full, or are they asking you to hold off for a specific amount of time, like for the September or November classes? I think it all depends on your situation...if it's financially viable for you to wait until September, November, or even the next class, do it if you really want to work at NYU. But if you can't, I'd be looking for other opportunities as well. Hope that helps.

Thanx! yea they are just saying that they are not interviewing because there are no positions available. It seems like that's what happening in most places, anyways i'll keep on it. thanx for replying.

Hi,

I'm graduating in May and I applied to the Nurse Residency Program about a month ago. It is my first choice and I keep calling nursing recruitment to check the status of my application... but no one can tell me whether or not they've even gotten to my application or when they will. I don't want to lose hope! What did you ask when you called? Were they able to give you any information about your application?

Thanks!
