Nursing Program at Hunter College NLN Score

U.S.A. New York

hey everyone! I'm currently a student at hunter college and am applying for the nursing program for Fall 2010. I am taking the NLN tomorrow and am very nervous! I know the test is computer based and you can get your score as soon as your finished taking the test. I know there have been NLN exams going on since Monday. I was wondering if people wanted to share their scores (totally anonymous) just so we can get idea of what the high-low scores are. I hope everyone did well and I hope to see you in the program this fall!:nurse:

hey bhutanpride. As long as everything transfers over(which it should) the other major classes you need to take are microbiology, chemistry and organic chemistry. You also need to take another psych class called human development. Your gpa is not so great but keep working to keep it up. You still have a good chance of getting in but you need to score at least in the 140s to 150s on the nln. Good luck! Hope everything works out for you and you get in!!

heyy annag, thanks a lot. does that mean that after those class I can just take the nln and apply for nursing in hunter?I would also like to ask if your taking nursing classe in hunter? if so how is it? Thanks again for your help and i noe this to many question.

After you have taken everything you can apply for the program but only during the spring semester. During the spring is the only time hunter offers A&P 2 and microbiology. They allow you to take these classes in the spring while you wait for your acceptance into the program. I don't mind the questions lol but if you want you can speak with an advisor and she can explain everything much better. She knows all the answers. Currently I'm waiting for my acceptance into the program(hopefully!) I took the nln in February and am waiting for the results!

Lol thanks a lot. Ummm what did u get in the nln and whas ur gpa? Anyways goodluck n I thinkk u did ur research so u will definately get inn hehhe.

I got a 132 on the nln and scored in the 92nd percentile. My gpa is a 3.6. I hope that's enough to get in!! I will update this is I do lol

Lol niceeeeee. You will make itttt trust meee and when u do just let me noe how it is. Thanxxx lol.

Anna, you said "You still have a good chance of getting in but you need to score at least in the 140s to 150s on the nln."

Are there that many people who have scores in the 140s and 150s?

I ask this because I see these numbers thrown around as if it is concrete fact. They consider the GPA as well as 50% of the criteria. I think it's difficult to definitely say what NLN scores get in and which do not. If it was purely based on the NLN, sure. However, I am sitting on a very high GPA currently (in all of my pre-reqs aside from O-chem which is the last one and the class I am taking currently at Hunter) and scored in the 92nd percentile on the NLN this past February. It's a little upsetting to hear that you have to score 'at least' in the 140s to 150s to have a chance. In fact, it's downright discouraging. I know I replied earlier in this thread already but I still keep seeing those scores quoted as fact and it's disheartening.

Hey don't b discouraged if uu don't get in take nln againn don't give up and be optimisticcc damnnn itttt. Lol

Actually that wasn't my point.

My point is I still have a huge chance of getting in with my 3.89 GPA since that's 50% of the criteria. If I listened to the random (erroneous?) 'facts' thrown around here, I would think I don't have a chance.

Oh and additionally, it's really not as simple as 'just take it again' for a lot of people either since we have a lot of time issues (we are older adults who have been doing the pre-reqs for quite some time and are at the cusp of starting a program). That's a very flippant way of looking at things. Missing this means missing another year out of life if one desires to get into Hunter's program since it only starts in the fall.

Oh okay no comment.

hey Tallulahbelle. the only reason i said you need to score in the 140s-150s is because I know a girl in the program that had a very low gpa but scored in that area and was accepted into the program. You are absolutely right though. It is based on 50% GPA and 50% nln. don't be discouraged! I don't know that many people that scored in that area this year. Do you? Last year was a different story. Hopefully everything will work out for us and we get to see each other this May for orientation!
