Nurses on Narcs

I am an RN in NYS, I am currently disabled due to a work related injury (you guessed it, a cervical disk rupture). I am currently taking Vicodin, I am not addicted and try to minimize my use (I use no more than 30 a month). I am trying very hard to return to work and hope that I can return one day without the use of Narcs, but I am wondering what the law is on this subject. I cant find it anywhere.
I would imagine it is not allowed, at least by your employer. If anyone knows where to find this link, please let me know.
Like I said, I am hoping it won't be an issue.
