New York City BSN Programs

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey guys! I'm posting this in hopes for some feedback about a few BSN programs I am interested in. If you guys are current students or perspective students let me know about your experience! What were your stats? Thanks!

Also, does anyone know why some SUNY's do not require an entrance exam or letters of recommendation? I mean I LOVE this policy but it kind of makes me worried that their programs are beyond competitive and I do not have a chance.

-SUNY Buffalo

-SUNY Binghamton

-Long Island University

-Adelphi

-Pace

Thanks again!

Just to clarify, these are not really NYC programs. the SUNYs are in Buffalo and Binghamton, LIU is in either Brooklyn or Long Island, Adelphi is in Garden City, LI, and Pace is in either NYC or Westchester county.

Every nursing school has different admission requirements. These are often related to what the school has seen to help weed out students who are not likely to succeed.

Hello,

I'm not sure what the requirements are for the SUNY's you mentioned or Adelphi but both LIU and Pace require entrance exams. You have to take the TEAS for LIU and the HESI for Pace.

Hi. I'm currently in Adelphi and I'll graduate in December. I have to tell you, transferring to Adelphi university was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. It wasn't an easy one since the tuition is high comparing to other schools but adelphi offers grants and scholarships that help a lot. It's expensive but manageable even if you would have to take loans.

I can't believe that soon I will officially be a nurse. My dreams are finally coming true.

First, I started my nursing education at Laguardia community college but I already knew that I want a BSN degree so after 3 semesters transfered to Hunter college since many friends were saying that it is a very good school. Maybe it is but it wasn't for me. I managed to keep a GPA of 3.7 even though English is not my first language. This school gave me nothing but depression and anxiety. When I reached 63 credits I had to declare my major and since I wasn't accepted to their nursing program yet i had to change my major to something different that nursing. I chose psychology and was ready to pursue this degree. Until my aunt, an registered nurse with more than 10 years experience convinced me to continue with nursing at private college. So from Hunter college, a school where everybody want you to fail, I transfered to Adelphi University where everybody makes sure you succeed.

ADELPHI UNIVERSITY is expensive but it is worth every penny. I finally see the progress and know that I will graduate with the nursing degree soon. Professors and clinical instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. I definitely recommend this school.

New York City (NYC) is made up of five boroughs : Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island, and Queens. Therefore, LIU and Pace, located in Brooklyn and Manhattan, respectively, and are therefore NYC programs.

LIU: I have heard that their nursing program is demanding and some were not too happy with the program. Search it up here for reviews. LIU is a private school and costs a lot because of that. Most students that attend LIU are the ones that could not get into the CUNY and SUNY college nursing programs (because they're so competitive).

Hunter College has a BSN program; it's a CUNY school in Manhattan.

Thank you for clarifying what I was trying to state. I was trying to say that some kid these (Pace and LIU) have options in NYC, but overall the question was regarding a few programs that are all throughout NYS

I graduated from Buffalo. Their program is a great value for the money. The total cost of the whole accelerated BSN program was roughly what tuition for one semester is at Adelphi/ LIU. No entrance exam. They do require letters of recommendation and a personal statement, no interviews. Binghamton is similar. Great value, good schools.
