Hello

Some of the NY hospital seems to hire only NY educated nurses (like nypresbyterian), is it truth?

What hospitals in Manhattan hired foreign nurses (I did my nursing school in France)? I really would like to stay away from agencies!!

What is the best way to get a contact (and a job!!!!) ( fax, job fair, register online on hospital websites)?

Thanks for your help,

:lol2: It's been a while since I took french, but I think s/he basically said she is french and works at the hospital and the OP can send an email (or PM )and she will respond to her.....but I could be wrong...like I said it has been a while

French accent is cute!!!

Sorry!

hello everyone!

good translation NYdreamer!!

I dropped my resume this morning at the presbyterian employment office as you suggested Chuck1234, they did not propose me an interview, the receptionist just took the resume and that's all. Do you know how long it usually takes until you have a feedback?

Thanks Dudette, I'm going to PM you!!

Another question, I posted my resume in the MoUNT Sinai website but when I tried to apply for a job, they ask you if you have you're BSN or 2 years experience if you have do not (I only have 1 year and few months experience), you're receiving an automatic email that say that your application is denied!!Are the nurse there all BSN or experienced?? (no new grads??)

Have a great day

I think it was suggested by another person, but it does not hurt to do it. You will only gain experience by doing it. Tomorrow, I am going to go to work, I will ask the Nurse Manager if she will hire any foreign nurses without permanent residency(green card). Just keep your finger crossed at this time.

Mt. Sinai...this is a famous hospital, yes, indeed that their requirement is a BSN or 2 year experience. You are trying to apply for a job at this time... a lot of new grad with BSN. Be patient then....not much else you can do. But I am sure you will get something somewhere and that is for sure.

Sorry for the mistake chuck1234!! Thank you very much for your help, I will keep my fingers crossed tomorrow for sure. In fact I have a visa for 5 years and I'm only here since 1 year!(and it will certainely be renewed at the end of the contract of my husband) But I don't know it's maybe more convenient for the employer to have somebody with a green card!!

I look forward to ear from you and thank you for all you're doing and the time it's taking!

thanks! ok, ok, my parents are haitian, so i always had an advantage in my french classes  ...I confessed, pheww! I feel better now...My friend works at Mount Sinai and got the job as a new grad BSN, never worked in the health field...just apply there, you never know...FYI: she has been there for three years and I have never heard her complain to me about her job. The only thing she has said is that she wants to try another unit,,,she is in med/surg now

Currently, they are hiring nurses with experience in the ICU.

ICU is on of the areas I will be looking into when I graduate...I just wanted to know if you like it more than med/surg and if you had any ICU rotations in nursing school...anyone can answer these questions...I would really like to know if ICU rotation is normally a part of NS

Juat a quick note about Mount Sinai it is definetely a BSN preferred hospital. My mom worked there for 16 yrs and she says they are really pushing for BSN nurses. But it is still worth a try they do hire ADN nurses as long as they have experience. When my mom and I moved here from Canada she was actually sponsored by Mount Siani at the time it was fairly easy for us both to get a citenzship/green card ..etc. So, apply there anyway even if you have 1 yr experience this may be the hospital for you.

Med-Surg was not easy. Sometimes, I had 17 patients if other nurses called in sick. I like ICU inasmuch as I only have 2 patients...3 the most. I had the ICU rotation when I was in school.
