I'm not sure which North Shore hospital those are supposed to be for, but they're not correct for NS Manhasset.

    Hi Everyone,

I recently moved out to Stony Brook (Long Island) and was wondering if anyone had any advice about the hospitals out here. I've been a nurse for 5 years and am looking for a full-time position. I'm not too concerned about salary and more about the overall hospital environment. I've been told by several experienced RNs not to bother with Stony Brook University Medical Center. Other than that I haven't heard too much. Any comments would be really appreciated

For NS Man, a more accurate representation would be:

    Base 66,000
    BSN 1200
    Cert 1200
    Night diff 5200

    =

73,600 + whatever experience pay you negotiate/accept from them. There are 15 yr exp nurses making 90-ish, so 5 yr exp differential of ~6,000 seems reasonably attainable (total ~79,600). Also, this is for 13 shifts per 4 week schedule....

I started working at NewYork-Presbyterian Cornell last fall (as a new grad) and am making $36.45/hour. That's including BSN differential and working days. They provide great benefits, tuition reimbursement, a year long nurse orientation program.

St. Joseph's Medical Center, Yonkers, NY pays new graduate RNs with an Associates Degree in Nursing an hourly rate of $31.941 (effective August 2008) which barely works out an hourly rate of $21.434 after deductions!
