Moving to Lafayette,Syracuse

I am an RN with 2+ years exp in ICU/CCU. Have med/surg and ER long term care experience also.

Will be moving to Lafayette and start a new marriage,new life.Would like to work in smaller setting,after working nights for years in ER ,and ICU/CCU would like to stick to a day shift.Less stress and will even consider other nursing than just hospital.

What I wondering is about options in the area.

Also what is the pay for RNs in different areas.

any info would be appreciated

Hi:

I don't live in Central New York anymore, but grew up there. The closest city would be Syracuse, which is maybe a half hour drive from Lafayette (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). I know there are a few hospitals in downtown Syracuse, like Crouse, Upstate, VA Hospital and St. Joseph's. Google them and see if they have websites, which I'm sure Upstate and St. Joseph's do.

Lafayette is south of Syracuse, so I'm not sure what other hospitals there are, but hopefully someone will respond. Of course, you said you would be interested work outside of hospitals, so maybe you could look into travel nursing and see what they offer.

not sure where your moving from but I would recommend either St.Joseph's or Crouse for Syracuse hospitals and they may be smaller than where you're coming from.. There is also Cortland Regional Medical Center about 20 minutes to the south which has associations with St. Joseph's. It is more like a smaller community hospital, but is still good. I hope this helps.
