Hi mzthang2260,

I am currently attend Lagcc. I hope to get into the LPN program. However my grades are not good.

Anatomy and Physiology 1 C+

Mat 106 A

Eng 101 B+

PSY101 B+

Is it possible for me to retake A and P?

If anyone was in this similar situation or if you anyone have any advice please share.

I really want to get into an LPN program. Im contemplating whether to transfer to another college.

Hi,

In most states and at most Colleges you can re-take A & P and it will definitely help your chances, but I would only do this if you truly feel that you could get a higher grade. I would hate to spend the money and time to only come out with the same grade. Good luck! What's meant to be will happen. My roommates GPA was 3.0 when she got into nursing school (ASN), she had made C's in both A & P's but got in when the class average GPA was 3.45 and most had A's and B's in A & P, the difference was that most went somewhere else to take those A & P's while she stayed and toughed it out at the school where she got into nursing. The moral of the story is that sometimes making a C doesn't make it where you are out of the pack, these committee members who decide who is in the program know whether or not the A & P's at their school are difficult or not. Keep your head up and chase after your dreams....you too will make it!!!!

Good Luck!!!

You can retake it but you will have to get departmental permission to do so because anything above a c is considered passing. The system will probably not allow you to register since you've taken it already. Someone in the natural and applied sciences dept will have to approve it. Keep in mind that when you do take it over both grades will be used in the gpa ranking that means eng, psyc, mat, and both both grades for bio. For a total of 16 credits instead of 12

If you transfer to another cuny school upon your first incoming semester there they allow you this one time to drop whatever courses you don't want to carry over. So if you go that route just drop the scb203 and take it over at the new school.the cut off gpa is usually a 3.3-3.4 at lagcc for lpn. But whatever u decide don't give up. You can try applying to trade schools in NYC that offer lpn like Brooklyn & manhattan adult center, boces & veeb in longisland. Mildred Elley has a lpn program. I'm applying for next fall as all my pre and co reqs are done. For my pre req I have a 3.6gpa eng-B psyc- A mat-A- bio-A- hopefully I'm in

Thanks for the advices everyone they are encouraging.

Interesting story with your roomate it encourages me not to give up and to remain optimistic.

Im ready to put the gloves back on.

I forgot to mention i had taken the ENG and PSY in another college and transferred them to LAGCC. Can i retake those twwo classes at LAGCC?.

Also, when can i apply for candidacy for the LPN program at LAGCC.

I am considering a private school Mildred Elley is too costy. So far ive been looking into st. Pauls and eastern suffolk boces. Lets wait a little and see what plays out at LAGCC

Hello,

I was just wondering are you in the LPN program at LAGCC? the RN program?

Or did you do the LPN to RN bridge?
