That's great that it went well. Mine was all behavioral as well, and it went really well I think. I was an extern on the Burn Unit last year, but I will not be interviewing for a full-time position there. As for the wait, hang in there, you should hear back soon. Let me know how everything goes! Are you interviewing at any other hospitals?

Its hard getting interviews at other hospitals - most hospitals are hiring their externs or employees. And other hospitals only want experienced nurses, I understand the risk with new grads, but we all need to start somewhere. It's frustrating and depressing. Thus, nope havent interviewed anywhere else. And you?

Some of my friends who did not do an externship are looking for jobs in CT and NJ. It's so hard. I thought the market would have been better for our year as new grads, but nope. Not better at all.

On the brighter side, I spoke with my recruiter today, and she gave me some very good feedback. I am actually very happy about that - but I do not want to make any assumptions. **fingers crossed**

That's great that you received good feedback from your recruiter. I hope you hear something soon. What unit did you interview for?

And yes, I have been interviewing at other places. However, I agree, it is really hard.

Also, I wonder if we were in the same Extern orientation last year? Did you work at NYP Weill Cornell or another campus?

Oh nice, that is where my friend interviewed and got an offer a couple weeks ago. I hope you hear back soon. Is oncology your first choice area?

My interview with the recruiter went well. I am now on another waiting list, so we will see how it goes. My other interviews are going well also. Actually have an offer for January 2012, but I am still interviewing for other positions.

I wish you the best of luck! Let me know how it all turns out.

Good for your friend! I love oncology - I would love to work in Peds though, or possibly the NICU. But oncology is such a good area.

I am also on a waiting list for the position. I hope something opens up soon. Which position are you wait-listed for?

And that's good! Congrats on your offer - where is it?

And Thank you, I wish you the best of luck too! keep me posted?

Whatever you do, don't work in their oncology unit. The managers and staff there are nightmares! Friends have told me. Nobody stays there. After a year, everyone leaves. They eat the young.

Can't remember all of them, but my nursing prof taught the behavioral questions asked in an nursing interview were around the personality traits called the 5 C's

    • compassion
    • communication
    • care
    • conflict resolution
    • calmness

Tell me about a time the most uncooperative patient you have had to deal with. How did you handle it.(to assess communication and conflict resolution)

Our hospital serves a very diverse population. How have you prepared yourself to deal with patients from various backgrounds?

Suppose you learned that your fellow LPN was taking shortcuts and that a prescribed plan of care was not being followed for a patient. How would you handle this?
