Internship for Student Nurse in NYC!

Hello everyone!

I am looking for an internship for next summer 2011 in NYC since I should be done with my MED-SURG1 by then. Can anybody please give any suggestions and if possible include the links thanks.

I know that there are previous posts regarding this topic but they are somehow old and the information is not current.

Lenox Hill Hospital has an externship twice a year in the summer and the winter. Here is the link Nursing Programs | Lenox Hill Hospital

. Right now they have the information for the winter program posted but it's the same information that will be up for the summer except for the deadlines, so you can get an early start getting your documents together. Hope this helps.

Some hospitals do not post their internships on their website. So you would have to call them up and ask if they offer an internship. Try the VA hospital in NY. Also try NYP hospital, the contiunuum health partners. Try about every hospital and ask you never know. Good luck.

Continuum Health Partners, which is a group of hospitals in the NYC area, has a summer externship program. I did it in summer 2010 and it was a wonderful experience. Google "continuum health partners" and you'll find the info on the nursing section, start looking in early Feb. Apply early, last year they interviewed in March.

Check again every few days, it's probably too early for it to be up. I applied in the middle of Feb, that's when I saw it on indeed.com and applied.

New york presbyterian hospital has one, NYU Langone Medical center, Mount Sinai, Hospital for special surgery, Memorial Sloan Kettering. These are the hospitals that had internships last year. They have it every year so check their websites or give them a call to find out how to apply. You can also consider other hospitals outside of Manhattan, like in the Bronx, Queens, Westchester, Brooklyn etc. Good luck and apply early so that you can have a shot.
