Hello nurse friends!
I've searched the threads but haven't quite found what I'm looking for. I am an RN (BS from Columbia), and have completed 2 of 3 years of coursework and clinicals for HNP/ANP at NYC (clinicals in: asthama/allergy/immunology, women's health service @ NYU, integrative medicine clinic). I also worked as a labor and delivery nurse. I am on leave from school and have been working in private practice as a holistic RN (I am a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association) and doula, but the work has been unpredictable. I would love to be using my nursing skills more regularly, and also have a dependable source of income. I'm stumped to figure out what type of work I could do where it wouldn't be an issue to potentially be out for 2-3 births a month. Is that because I'm out of luck? Or have I just not been creative enough? I have lots of time (all the other days of the month!) and love being a nurse. I would love any insight into how I can best put my skills to use in the NYC area. I am in Brooklyn, so Brooklyn & Manhattan (the lower the better) are my geographical preferences.
Thank you in advance for any insight, and here's wishing everyone else success in their nurse lives!
