I want to go to Mildred Elley

U.S.A. New York

Published

Do any one know any information about Mildred Elley New York City Campus. I am interesteing in going to the LPN program but I am not to sure if I should go to this school or another. The school seems a little bit unorganized, I need information from any graduates or students that are in the school right now.

Are the professors fair and do they know what they are teaching?

How easy was it to find a job after school ?

Are the clinical rotations schedule reasonable?

Do you have credits from other school transfered such as Biology and Anatomy?

What grades did you receive in your subjects at Mildred Elley, A or B's?

Thanks

Hi I'm looking into this school and I see that you graduated. What was it like? What was the schedule like ? Did you have any problems transferring your credits over anything that you can share would be helpful

Hi, I went to school Mon to Thurs 6 to 10 pm before I enter the nursing program. Then on Fridays (6 to 10 pm) for lecture and Sat and Sun for lab/clinicals (9-5 pm) when in the nursing program. what I love the most about the school is that the professors and staff are nice and really care but I heard most do not work there anymore. They try to fit your schedule with tutoring sessions when you need it.

I have no problems transferring my credits over to private schools for associate rn. I know that PACE accepts the credits. Mildred has articulation with Helene Fuld, so they will definantely take any Mildred students. CUNY, ASA school and LIU will not accept Mildred credits so far. But you will be a nurse by then. You have to weigh your options out.

After finishing school I was well prepared for the N-cLEx and was offered several jobs. plus the career unit help with lifetime employment. At the end of the day I am happy that I took a chance on this school because I am a nurse and will be continuing my education to be a RN.

Thanx for this update @genaluvya

Truly contemplating on applying to ME...I have ALL me pre-reqs done. So I'm just looking at the NUR classes. Wonder what that schedule will look like for me? I plan to attend the EVENING schedule. The schedule you layed out sounds really doable. Thanx for sharing your experience, very helpful. All the best to you...

Thank you so much for the info. I really think this will be perfect for me I actually ran into someone today with their ME uniform made me feel like this is my destiny

Thanks @ mrscombocurlz and mrsmussa

Mrsmussa, I remember when I saw students in their Mildred uniform, I felt the same way.

MrsComboCurlz, evening is appealing. There isn't too many evening programs now for LPN or RN. I was thinking about applying to Cochran and D. Hophner (sorry for spelling) evening program but I will be traveling from Brooklyn by MTA. Leaving work at 4 pm and Im not sure if I will be able to do the commute.

Have you guys also thought about Nassau Community College or Beth Isreal?

How long were you taking prerequisites? Were you able to work while doing this program was the workload heavy since its only the weekends and was it difficult to find a job after graduation sorry keep thinking of a new stuff I'm curious about

I don't drive so nassau would be too far for me to travel to. If I did drive I would probably go to veeb haven't really looked into Beth Israel

Don't worry, I don't mind answering the questions. I had to take A and P 1 & 2 over cause my science were more than 5 years at the time (have a previous degree) and the school also gave other classes such as medical terminology, etc. So that took me 5 months to complete and the clinical portion of the program took 11 months, i think. sorry if my estimation is off.

I worked mon to fri 9 to 5 pm and the school was 30 minutes away from my job. I studied when traveling home on the train and on the weekends/when convenient.

I started the LPN program in March 2012, I graduated in Sept 2012 and passed N-Clex in Jan 2013. I started working at the end of Jan at an assisted living facility. Its not hard to find a job its just where you look, who you know and how the economy is at that time. The economy is harsh but not just to new grad nurses, any new grad.

As we speak, I'm applying to Hopfer, Cochran and the CUNY college I'm currently attending for Jan 2014 semester. I'm also applying to Bergen CC for Jan 2014 and Nassau CC for Fall 2014. I have a car but would rather take public transportation to and from.

I actually just got off the phone with a ME rep...I can't attend there right now because I'm currently registered for PathoPhy this semester at CUNY (taking BSN classes while I wait to get into a program) so that leaves me to apply to ME for their Jan 2014 class.

The rep told me they have an admit class for this Sept & Nov 2013...so who's ever interested should get on it.

ok, im sure you will get into one of those programs. I like that you have a goals set and back up plans. I also do the same. If you are doing patho you can apply to downstate or adelphi.
