    There are no hospitals in the very small city of Cohoes. Nearby facilities are as follows;
    Samaritan and St. Mary's are in Troy. Ellis in Schenectady.
    Albany Medical Center, Albany Memorial & St.Peters' in Albany.
    Good luck.

    You might check out St. Clare's in Schenectady and Samaritan in Troy. Albany Med is a teaching hospital and it's big, but if I lived up there, I'd prefer to work at St. Peter's.

    I worked at St. Peter's right out of nursing school, and it was a very poor fit, though I know that some of my classmates are there and very happy. I've been working at Albany Med for more than a year now, and am very happy on my unit. I also have a good friend who was at St. Peter's with me and is now at AMC and happy on her unit. It all depends on the person, the job and the overall vibe of the unit, I think.

    We live in Ticonderoga and go to Albany for my husband's cardiac care. He had a cardiac cath done at St Peter's and they were wonderful. The ratios for the nurses in the cc recovery area could be a little on the high side, though.

    I am from LI but moved upstate , i did rounds to these hospital. St peters is the best, beware of the lady in HR, but past that.. very nice. Ellis also offers much. i believe st peters pays more, nicer area too, right next to SUNY, maria college.
    good luck

    Nataline, I will be driving up there in the very near future to shadow and interview. I just read elsewhere on this site that starting new grad RN-BSN pay is 20.50 an hour?!?!?! This means uprooting myself fr GA for less pay? I just find that incredible.

    Would you mind elaborating a little more on the perks that make you so happy on your unit and what unit that is? I'd love to be able to chat with you in person if I actually make it up there next week?

    Thanks so much!!
    Chloe
