Good CNA schools on Long Island/NYC? Hospital or nursing home volunteering?

  1. I want to be a RN, but want to get experience as a CNA first. I'm looking for CNA schools. I'm also attending community college in the evenings completing my prerequisites.

I saw Manhattan Institute but I am not entirely convinced yet, especially how fast the course is (4 weeks). If anyone has gone here, I'd be grateful to hear your thoughts.

I may go to Boces Suffolk/Wilson Tech although I have to save up money. I do like how it seems to be better organized by requiring scrubs and materials. Has anyone ever been to Boces/Wilson Tech?

If anyone knows any other places on Long Island, NYC, and the boroughs, it would be very appreciated!

Lastly, when applying to nursing school, do they prefer nursing home or hospital volunteering? Is there a difference?

    Thanks in advance!
