Farmingdale State College

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi guys. I'm new to posting but I've been a long time lurker. I just wanted to know if anyone is in or is planning to attend Farmingdale State College. I want to go there but I want to know some more information about it. What are the pre-reqs for the LPN program? What is the lowest composite score that they look at? All other schools tell you this but I can't find that info anywhere on Farmingdale's website. I'm currently studying for the exam (even though I have NO IDEA when the next PAX-PN test is being given in NY). I got a B in Psych and also a B is English. I have to re-take A&P1 in the Fall because I didn't do so well in it. I'm trying my hardest to get an A in it so that they'll at least consider me for the program. I'm sorry for the long post but I'm just panicking because I have no clue what I'm really doing lol. I'd love if anyone/everyone could help me out. What other pre-reqs do I need for the PN program? Is it really hard to get into? I'm pretty much freaking out about....EVERYTHING:banghead:. I just don't feel like I'm doing enough. Seriously, do you all think I have a good shot at getting in with the grades I stated above?

Hi!! I finally found someone on here who also is going to Farmingdale!! Just curious, why the RN program? Why not go for your Associates in Nursing and become an RN? I have only completed one class so far (Engilsh) so I am too starting out too. Alot of info I got I got from the website. What are you taking next semester?

Just got accepted into Farmingdale's Nursng program for the Fall 2009 Semester.. soo excited!!!

I am planning on applying next semester. If you dont mind me asking did you have all your pre-reqs done and what was your GPA? Was the entrance exam hard?

Hey Kuklara, I had all of my pre-req's completed except Micro. My GPA averaged out to about a 3.7 I believed. I received a 129 (composite score) on the PAX Exam. I also already have an Associates Degree from NCC so I also have all the humanities credits I would need, so I had a LOT of credits that counted towards my GPA average. I thought the test was hard, I did study from the book but the math was tough. I had a lot of trouble with math in high school so I found it difficult, however I did a lot better on the test than I thought I would have. Good luck applying next semester!!

The thing that stinks about Farmingdale's Bachelors in Nursing is that you HAVE to start as a freshmen and go through the four year program

ifoundnemo, what do you mean about Farmingdale? I am a transfer student I was accepted for the 2 year program... at the end if I want to continue I figured I could just transfer or continue on into the Bachelor's program.

Is that not the case?

No, no! If you get your RN first then you can go into the RN to Bachelors program!! I was just saying that if you have a bachelors in another discipline, they have no accelerated program - you can't skip ahead to the clinicals like in other programs, you have to do they whole four year track :)

Ohhhhhhh okay! Hahaha I was confused! I am not sure if I want to do the Bachelor's just yet I want to go to school and start working already and maybe do the Bachelor's while working... it's really up to how long my Dad is willing to pay for me to go to school. And since I have already been in school for 4 years with only an Associates to show for, I don't know how long he's going to keep paying lol
