Cna to lpn

I was wondering if the transition from cna to lpn was easier? I've only been a cna for 3 weeks at a LTC facility and it's just not for me. It really hard for me to go to work everyday. It's so stressful but I ion I am making a difference in someone life. I just can't wait to become a LPN. I know my dream job is to be in healthcare. But being a CNA is not it!

CNA in LTC is great experience esp if you are interested in geriatrics. Try to not be down on your job or the scene. In my clinical in LTC i expected it to be depressing...but i found it to not be bad. I was also on the dementia unit, which most people dislike. Just think of it as taking care of a an elderly family member and helping them in their daily tasks. Also in LTC, it seems CNAs do most of the direct care work (with LPN and RNs doing the meds and assessments). By observing i can tell what a difference a great CNA makes in the lives of the old people. I also seen neglectful CNAs that hate their jobs and the residents (by how they treat them) and it is sad. Hang in there! I think liking and disliking a job is all in the mindset. Look at it in a positive light and you should be able to get through your CNA time without issue.

Also the Adult Education department of the NYC Board of Ed has LPN program. Which I think may be free or very low cost. Check it out.
