Binghamton Applicants- BAT Fall 2013

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all,

I just submitted my application to Binghamton for the BAT program for next fall. Didn't see a discussion board yet so figured I would start one. Any other applicants out there?

Hi all! I've been lurking on this thread for a few weeks now in hopes of gleaning useful info, and I have to say it's been really good to read that many of you have been accepted already! I'm one of the few on the sidelines still waiting to hear back. I'm hoping I can add to the joy on this discussion!

Just like Bear0512, I'm still fulfilling some of my prerequisites, namely intro to psych, human growth/development and one writing comp class. I sent an email to the advisor last week and she got back to me yesterday saying they were still in the process of reviewing applications. I thought they didn't want to make a decision because I haven't sent them everything, but eca2493 has proved that wrong! So I'm still (nervously) waiting. Bing is my alma mater as well, so it would be great to study here again!

All the best to everyone who got accepted! I hope I'll be able to add to the list here!

Eca, I may be looking for a roommate. Twin river commons apartment building was suggested to me, I looked at it and its a really nice apartment building for students only. But I may want something cheaper unless I'd split a place in there. I'm taking chem 2 this semester that's the only thing I was missing

Great to see more have been accepted! For those who have received their letters already, did it happen to mention the start date for the program?

@lwalter2: haha, small world!!

as for the idea, i lived at chapin str and main str. the area around main str close to downtown is sketchy, but certainly doable. i lived in an aptmt and rent was very cheap for me. $300/month + electricity costs, which (split among me and 2 other ppl) came out to be ~$50 per semester, which is very very cheap. so for apt/houses, it'll range from high 200s to 400 for rent.

last year's program started around end of may, so this year will probably start around the same time.

spiritedkidd, do you mean the entire apartment was 300, and that was split amongst everyone? Or the 300 was your rent payment? either way that is awesome

300 per person per month. it was for 1 year. yeah, it was pretty cheap, since water and gas were already covered and all we had to pay was electricity (on top of the rent). my friend lives in a studio apartment by himself and he's paying 400$. if you live in a house, it'll definitely be more expensive and you will probably have to pay for all/most of the utilities. you wanna find a house that's near both the binghamton public buses as well as the blue buses run by the university.

oh cool, was his studio apartment part of a complex or something? thanks for the info, I'm brand new to renting upstate!

it was in a building. his studio apartment isnt really as luxurious as it sounds lols :p

but if youre set on going to bing, you should try to find one asap cus most people sign their lease around feb-march, i would say.

do you know what building it is? Thats ok, coming from once living in manhattan in closet sized apartments i'm sure anything in bing is luxurious LOL

Why would everything be taken by feb/march if most people don't start school until September?

Thanks for the insight!

Hi everyone-I actually called the nursing department (Binghamton University - Academics: Schools and Colleges: Decker School of Nursing: Undergraduate Students: Contact Us) because my acceptance letter said nothing about the BAT program and just stated I was accepted for the Fall 2013 program. The woman I talked to, who was extremely nice, stated that that's correct and that the start day for the program is May 28th! I hope that helps :)

Hi all!

Congrats to all who got accepted already! I'm still waiting to hear back...hopefully soon! For those of you that know for sure that you're going to Binghamton, are any of you planning to live on campus?
