How similar is the "actual exam" compared to the "$10 exam you pay for from NLN?
Would you say it is exactly the same as the $10 exam?
Also, how similar is it to the sample test NYP gives you?
Thanks. Please reply soon. Thanks again!
I did not purchase the practice exam from the NLN. I only reviewed the practice test from NYP in collaboration with the text they recommended. You'll do fine. Format is the only similarity. The text did help tremendously. Good luck.NYC He-Nurse likes this. - Feb 9, '11 by Ari RNQuote from Sierra207Took two weeksHey again Ari! Sorry to keep bothering you. - Apr 30, '11 by nycRNCNSHi Ari! Congrats on the job. Can I ask how you initially began the job/interview process for this position? Did you apply online, directly email someone you know etc. I graduate in August, and since you said the process took so long, I would love to get started now! Thanks so much for your help and congrats again!!

Not to jump Ari's Thread, but I can also answer the question....
- You MUST apply online. If they like your resume or think you are a good candidate for the position they will send you an email, and they will have you do almost like a personality test type deal where it's alot of "What would you do type questions" not about medicine or meds but more about peer to peer interactions. I guess if you do well on that then you'll be contacted by talent recruitment and do a 15 min phone interview. If you do well there then they will set you up with a Recruiter for an interview...get thru the recruiter and the nurse manager of whatever unit you are trying to get into and then you'll prolly get an offer, if not then try try again.
- For me the process took 13-14 applications and over 6 months before they called me. They did call me in the summer of last year however when I spoked to them on the phone I was emotionally charged already so i didn't do so well...so i just kept sending applications....
If you're a new grad and you graduate in august. I'm not sure if they are going to have fellowships or anything that in august, from what Ive seen they are usually start in may/june. But I'm not 100% sure so you will have to do some research on it because I may be totally wrong.
Best of luck to you and your future endeavors. - May 4, '11 by nycRNCNSHi Da_Milk_of_Amnesia, Thanks so much for your response! I am graduating in August from a master's program, and have a little less than a year of RN experience so I'm not technically a new grad. I will start just submitting applications online for any positions I see, and hope something comes of it! Did you apply to other NYC hospitals? Was online applications always the best way to go? Thanks again!
