So, now i am waiting for the entrance test date.
Also, later on i will prepare myself for the Veeb entrance exam.
I plan to register for these two schools because i want to get lucky for one of them.

GOOD LUCK
I WENT THROUGH THE SAME EXPERIENCE A FEW YEARS AGO TRYING TO GET INTO NURSING SCHOOL. AFTER TRYING FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS I DECIDED TO APPLY IN NJ I WAS SUCCESSFUL AND WAS ACCEPTED TO 3 NURSNG SCHOOLS. I CHOSE HOHOKUS IN RAMSEY. I JUST PASSED MY NCLEX. THE JOY I FEEL IS OVERWHELMING. ALL THE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS AND WAKING UP 4AM FOR CLINICAL WAS WELL WORTH IT. IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO TRAVEL TO NJ YOU SHOULD APPLY THERE SCHOOLS STARTS EVERY 3 MONTHS.
ONCE AGAIN GOOD LUCK

I can personally tell you that I have two friends going to school with me now who decided NOT to attend BALC and onlypassed the first test. Three days before school was suppose to start BALC was calling to tell them to come down and get ready for school to be open. It was so funny. We were laughing because it seemed like they were practically begging for students to go there. I know someone who graduated from this program and he WAS NOT on welfare. They basically will accept anyone who passes the test from what I have observed. However, most people I know do NOT pass so I guess they are over anxious when someone does and let's them in the school.

Check this out. This is a program for low-income prospective students. Maybe someone can benefit from this.

Thumbs up Re: mid manhattan/brooklyn adult lpn
Hi, I'm a 2008 graduate already passed my boards in Aug. and job hunting. The program is an accelerated program so expect it to be intense. But at the same time I think it worth it when compared to the other LPN programs available. I attended the Mid Manhattan school. Remember it will all be worth it in the end. Good luck. Don't listen to all the rumors about financial aid and all that crap, you do your own research talk to people who has been through the program and get their feedback.

Is this program open to anyone or is it really for low-income students? I'm currently an Accountant in Manhattan looking to switch my career to Nursing. I have had this program on my radar for months now & this is the first time I'm hearing about the income guidelines.

I was accepted into the Monroe LPN program but decided not to attend because I would have to be $20k in debt.

If anyone have any information about the income required for this program, please let me know.

No , Brooklyn adult learning center and mid manhattan Learning center dont care about your income or is you have a masters( Someone in my class has a masters in Biology) You take the Cnet, if you pass then you take the Tabe Exam, then you get accepted! When you get accepted you must pay $1,300 By Sept 2009. Then you rest By Jan 2010. They do not care about your income or your tittle all you need is a passing grade in the exams and your money to start the program. If you want to get into the free LPN Program which you have to take the cnet and tabe also, your income as a single person must be around $16,000 i believe, that is a free program(Everything paid for) and its in Goldwater Hospital on the beautiful Roosevelt island. They are giving out applications NOW! so if you are interested Go Fill one out.

Im Currently in the Brooklyn Site. They Did not ask me about my income!

Elizabeth, I did call them today and thankfully they picked up phone and gave me your same response. I really appreciate you taking the time to response as I was on the verge of disappointment. How is the Brooklyn program treating you? I would do Brooklyn but it's all too far from the Bronx, so the Manhattan it is for me. I will be sending in my application in this week for the September, 2009. Yay! So excited!

Hi
I contacted NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation about the "free LPN program" and they sent me a letter saying: You must take a preliminary TABE (reading and math) exam to determine your eligibilty to be enrolled in the LPN prep program. You must score at least 10.0 in reading and 9.5 in math. All succesful candidates will be notified if scores meet the criteria for enrollment immediately after the exam. The prep program will begin January 2009 and run thru May 2009.

I took the test Dec 1st scored 12.9 reading and 11.3 math. MADE IT INTO LPN PREP!!

So at the test site after they told me i passed and made it into LPN prep, they gave me a paper with some what of an outline as to what the next steps would be. They also told me that they'd mail me the info as to where id be takin my LPN prep classes and when in January the clases actually start.

My concern is should i still apply to take the c-net. I would hate to have missed the dead line assuming that this LPN prep course is kinda like a pass...
Lastly i'm new to the site ive been reading every and anything on HHC, BALC, Mid Manhattan and Coler Gold Water but have yet to see any info on this LPN prep class. From what ive gathered this prep seems to be exclusively given to those who've applied thru the HHC nursing program. Im sure someone has taken the LPN prep class. Any info would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time i guess i'll just wait on that letter. Im sure it'll have more info. I just feel like they left me hanging and since the prep starts in January im getting anxious.

THANKS

Okay, thats great if you took the TABE A test and scored 12.9 and 11.3 in math you are good to go and i dont see why you need to take the prep class, in order to get into the program you need a 11.0 in reading and 10.5 in math. I suggest you pay for the CNET and take it ,i dont think you will get a "pass" into the program. There was someone last year that was also in the LPN prep class and had to take the Cnet ..and Failed and couldnt get into the program. Tabe if its TABE A is harder then the CNET! The Cnet is nothing compare to TABE A ( please make sure its TABE A, because thats the one that you are going to take) if not go to barnes and nobles and buy TABE A Study guide. Like i said before if you took the TABE A and got your score then you dont need the class.

Please send out your $35 and register like everyone else for the CNET,Please dont miss out the due date because you are confused about what you are suppose to do next, YOU NEED TO PASS THE CNET IN ORDER TO TAKE THE TABE!!!!!! if you pass then you get a call!!

For Paulino , Good thing you live in The Bronx, lol and that the manhattan school is closer to you! I dont know about the THE BROOKLYN SCHOOLLLLLLLLLLLL, let me stop! someone posted somewhere on all nurses and the person saids" oh i wouldnt recommend the brooklyn school, go to the manhattan school" when i read that i said whatever girl, let me see what its about, " now i know why she said that! its just alot of reading and teachers do not hold you hand, Period. You read it, discuss it with your study group (if you have one) then you get a test, every week!!
Every week we have a new chapter! , even for pharmacology! can you imagine that!!!!!!!!!!Teachers do not discuss. But its okay.

I THINK the Manhattan school is better, the teachers seem so nice and it look like they care and are willing to help and discuss the work, But i live a few mins from The brooklyn site thats why im there!

Goldwater is Beautiful, the teachers are so warm! and nice.
Oh well i have to live with Brooklyn site, some teachers are nice tho, Not giving any names, but make sure you are there for Nursing and only nursing, Be prepare to read.

ALSO!!!! The brooklyn school this year had about 80 People, the Manhattan school had about 40!!!! Omg!! Thats a great advantageeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee most of the people in bk school live in bk or queens thats why they go there. The manhattan school had less people, more teacher on student studying!!! thats a great place to learn.! Good luck paulino!!!!

Reading is a beautiful instrument.
Just remember when you start, I dont believe in working and attending Nursing school, its 9-4, This is your full time job, yeah you dont get a paycheck, You get something else. KNOWLEGDE! and when you Grad you wont even look back!! Dedicate 2-3 hours a night of studying, waking up at 4am and being real close to your classmates.
Sad, i miss my babys first real steps, oh well daddy caught them!

Good luck to all , its a wonderful Journey! Its decemeber 12 already! omg. Next month , if god is willing.... CLINICALS BABY!!

May the lord bless me, isaiah and my Brain everyday!
