3.91 GPA, my A&P class is going to shatter it

I took the class my first semester with psychology and sociology, and i had to withdraw because the pressure got to be too much for me. Aferwards, my advisor suggested I take chemistry first before i retake a&p again so i did. I wish i would have re-taken the course right after my first semester so i could recall some of the information but i didnt. Now im looking at a B-C grade, i didnt withdraw because i was afraid it would look bad if i took the class a 3rd time rather than take the grade i was going to get. this is the only course im missing before i apply for candidacy

the only other option for me is to try to get into the LPN program or occupational/physical therapy. this is really stressing me out, should i have withdrawn or did i make the right choice? either way, would it be easier for me to transfer to another school at this point?

with all due respect, i think the actual program is going to bring 100x's more pressure. youre going to need recall information 2 years later. i would stop making excuses, and really do some soul searching to see if this is for you. Its TOUGH no one ever said healthcare was easy. Maybe physical therapy is easier, I dont know. But anything worth having, is hard to come by

Are you applying to only one school? My gpa was less and i got into nursing school I'd apply to several.

The physical therapy degree is now a doctoral level degree.. I believe that's four years of college and four year of post graduate doctoral work...I can't imagine that that's easier, but perhaps I'm wrong?

Concentrate on what you need to do to salvage in B in the class and apply to all the programs that you can. There is bound to be a program somewhere where you will be accepted. Don't put all your eggs into one basket and don't waste time mulling over whether you made the right decision because at this point it is wasting valuable time that you could be using to study. Good luck in pulling that B.

Hi,

I noticed that you are attending LAGCC. Im currently a first semester LPN, planning to do the bridge for RN.

I think you should get at least a B for A&P. Anything lower and you can be in border line.

I think the last semester the last person to get in for RN had a gpa around 3.8, but then again it varies per semester. You should also calculate your grades in the 12 point scale, to have an idea of your chances. In the 12 point score systen, the lowest one was like 11.4.

Good luck

Question: So far I have all A's for prereqs in the liveral arts classes and all I have left is 4 sciences left then I am going to apply (I want to finish all my pre-rews first). Right now I am taking A&P1, and it looks like I am going to end up with a B. Is that bad? Is that going to hurt me bad when I apply to nursing school or do you think a B is OK?

I wouldnt say that a B is bad, since you have A's in the rest of the classes.
But what you want to find out are some stats regarding the admission into your school's nursing program.

Such as, what is their admission based on ? Just a mean average of the prereqs GPA ?

If so, then find out what was the GPA of the last person to get into the program last semester.

When you plug in the numbers, you can have a better idea at your chances.
