- Oct 4, '09 by StudentAmieGood luck, y'all! I applied for Fall 2009, second degree option, got waitlisted and accepted for January. So I am all set to go, but it was nervewracking not knowing when until a few weeks ago. Hopefully I will see you both there!!
p.s. Had they gone to GPA only admission for this semester? I had heard that was coming but not sure when? - Oct 6, '09 by shan007Quote from StudentAmiehi studentamieGood luck, y'all! Next stop filling out the checklist. - Jul 23, '10 by jobo.84UNM nursing school is actually a very poor institution. Their NCLEX passage rates is in the low 70%, where nation wide for BSN programs it is well into the 90%. That is horrific. The program thrusts a lot of junk tasks that have little to no value. The UNM program provides very bad prep for the NCLEX and for nursing in general. It is likely one of the worst BSN programs in the nation either statistically speaking or from content. It is a "busy work" school lacking any form of substance. The school ought be avoided; many of the community colleges offer a better overall education. It is a rather pompous and ineffective school...and I know as an unfortunate graduate of the place. Avoid! And, I did attain the accelerated BSN. It was a waste of money.
- Sep 3, '10 by RimzyDoes anyone know how long it takes before u know if you are accepted, say you apply in september for spring, is october/november a good time to hear back from them?
- Sep 4, '10 by Hannah27Does anyone know how many times the CON admits students a year?
I know someone who just finished level 4 during the summer semester, but I thought that they only admitted students 2x a year. Do they admit for summer semesters also? - Sep 4, '10 by RimzyQuote from Hannah27They accept students every semester. Deadline is Sept 15th for Spring and Summer and i think February 15th for fall.Does anyone know how many times the CON admits students a year?

Also, the average GPA of accepted applicants is a 3.4. The fact that they accept people based ONLY on GPA, says something about how much the school cares about what kind of nurses they are going to have. I agree with PP, that CNM's RN may be as good of an option, if not better.
ETA: Out of ~60-90 applicants per session, they accept ~6-8 students. HTH.
