Mike - Jun 10, '07 by PROVERBShi! i'm planning to apply for NM but my heart's in NY. about the reciprocity, how long will it take? please help. i need to know. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!
- Jun 10, '07 by PROVERBShi! i'm taking the CGFNS exam this September and I’m planning to apply for NCLEX this month. Just wanted to ask the following:
1. I want to apply for NM because of its speedy processing but my heart’s is in NY. I understand that if I choose NY, it will take me 9-11 months unlike NM which will only take me 3 months at most. I’m planning to apply for NM and then apply an endorsement/reciprocity for NY after. How long will the reciprocity will take? Is the time needed to apply for reciprocity equivalent to the time if I apply directly to NY instead of NM and then later endorse to NY? Which plan should I take: NM then endorse to NY or apply directly to NY? Which time will cost me less?
2. does NY require an SS# before they will issue the license just like in CA? I couldn't find a NY question & answer forum like this.
I’m hoping that you guys could help me with my dilemma. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! GOD BLESS
- Jun 11, '07 by jemtownSo caringnursenj.......I applied for my ATT in late April and received it about 3 weeks later. It is valid for 3 months. Hope this helps.

You are talking about Licensure through endorsement. NCLEX is the only thing that has reciprocity. You still have to meet the requirements of the state you are endorsing to. NY requires CVS. - Jun 20, '07 by migsicQuote from PROVERBShi! i'm taking the CGFNS exam this September and I’m planning to apply for NCLEX this month. Just wanted to ask the following:

you can consider applying directly for New York licensure if you are decided to work there. it will save you time and money (than going through New Mexico licensure and later endorse to NY).
For NY licensure, you will need the credentials verification service (CVS) for new york state. it's a service done by cgfns for foreign graduates who apply for license in new york (either thru exam or endorsement of license in another state). processing time for cvs is usually 4 to 6 months (sometimes, 6 to 10 months) based on the experience of other applicants.
you can read more about cvs and ny licensure from the website of cgfns and also of NYSED OP http://www.op.nysed.gov/nursing.htm (look for the verification of education credentials from non-US programs).
i hope this helps. - Jul 14, '07 by michaRNhi questions about registration to NM board of nursing..after I have forwarded my application forms payment, fingerprint to BON do i have to wait for their go signal to registered to ncsbn?advice needed thanks..
- Aug 8, '07 by bebe13Quote from Richelle SunicoDo you mean pearsonvue? Yes, you have to wait for the BON's go signal. After evaluation of your application, BON will contact you thru email to advise if you are eligible to take the NCLEX or if there are deficiencies in your application. As soon as you are made eligible, you will be further advised to register with pearsonvue to receive your ATT.hi questions about registration to NM board of nursing..after I have forwarded my application forms payment, fingerprint to BON do i have to wait for their go signal to registered to ncsbn?advice needed thanks..diapersprinkles likes this.
- Aug 9, '07 by astroboyHi bebe13!!!
I did send my application late june but still no emails from ms. vidaurri!!I tried to call her and even emailed her once to follow up my application but all i get is an answering machine. Its almost 2 months now. What shall I do? Some says registering at pearson would help.Does it really? - Aug 9, '07 by Silverdragon102Quote from astroboyIt doesn't really help registering with pearsonvue, does not make the process move any quicker. I suggest you have a look at the NM thread in the International forum as I am sure there are a few threads on how long it took to get OK to sit and sure it was more than 2 months. In fact I am sure I read something in the last couple of days saying she was looking at april/may but would suggesting checking up on that in the threadHi bebe13!!!
