OCVTS Toms River 2011 Class

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hello Everyone!

So is anyone here registered for the September 2011 class at Ocean County Votech for the LPN Program? I am, and I have to admit that I'm a little nervous. I've heard how difficult it is, but feel that if I'm dedicated and want it enough, there's no reason why I can't do it.

MEO814-I have been reading a book I bought called Math for Meds. I found it on Amazon.com It is a really good tool to prep and refresh your memory.

do not show up late on the first day or any other day for that matter.

Silly question, but are we to wear our scrubs everyday even the first day? I am just wondering how many I should purchase. Thanks :)

The school gives a thorough orientation and the handbook covers the rest

I wish all those that have started the Sept. 2011 ocvts lpn program all the best. I am hoping to get advice and suggestions from some current students and graduates of this program. I am currrently at Ocean Community College and will have completed about 12 -14 pre req classes for the RN program by JUNE 2012. That said I am really taking the classes to enter into the LPN program in hopes of getting into the labor market quicker( I look forward to working in this field for a long time) by attending/completing the OCVTS program to gain employment as a LPN then continue on to a RN degree through programs offered like that at Brookdale and Ocean/Kean "LPN 2 RN program".

I could have applied to the OCVTS program this year but the conditions (current employment) were just not right for me however now they are. I will be 50 years old (In actual) age but I am in great health and feel much younger really and I am looking forward to this huge career life change and challenge (I always wanted to be in Healthcare field as I have been a Vol EMT in the past). I was hoping to just get a feel for classes that might be good for me to take in prepartation for the LPN program. I am taking A&P, Bio, Eng II, pub speak, socilology, spanish and Intergrated software now. Does anyone have any thoughts or additional suggestions. Students please share with me your "general" experiences please just so I may keep the faith as they say. Graduates please fill me in about your experiences of being an LPN in NJ. Have any gone thru the LPN 2 RN progam? If so please share with me your experiences. Thank you all and good luck and I wait for your replies and responses.

Hey guys! I know this post is old, but I'm starting the LPN program at OCVTS in September. I'm actually torn about whether or not it would be worth the $10,000. From those of you who have finished, can you tell me what the experience was like? How were the instructors, the clinical? What you liked and disliked? Have you found employment as an LPN? How long did it take for you to get employed? I'm looking for more information other than it's gonna be hard, I know that already, and that seems to be all anyone has to say about it. Thank You! :)

Hi All,

I originally applied to OCVTS about 2 years ago and each year something always comes up where i am unable to start. I just got off the phone with one of the ladies there, she told me I have to reapply, take the test (if there are any more spots) and might (a big MIGHT) be possible to start in sept. I am also at OCC finished my prereqs last semester, took the TEAS (failed!:crying2:) I can take it again in March. If I pass it i go on the waiting list which is about a year & a half. Sooo I have to decide go for the LPN, put the RN program on hold right now then do the bridge later??? Sooo confused!:uhoh3:

FYI I had 2 friends that went through the program-one failed out, the other passed and is now working LTC making $26/hr. Its worse than the RN program since it is all crammed into 10 months or so. Good luck girls and maybe i will be joining you!

What LTC place is that at?
