NJ Licensure by Endorsement

  1. 0
i am peanut, 22 years old and an RN from the Philippines. I currently hold a license from the State of Vermont and I am going to apply for a licensure by endorsement in NJBON.. now, my dilemma is i am still here in the philippines, i read the post about if you're not subjecting yourself for a livescan, it takes about 3-4 months for the process? I am now awaiting for my packet 4 which i don't have any idea when will it arrive,
my packet 3 has been completed last jan.24,2006. I still don't have my SSS no. since my agent will be forwarding it together with the packet. Can I ask for your advice on what shall i do? should i file it already while here in the phils. or just there in NJ? How about the license verification? Shall I use the nursys? VT is included. I hope you can shed light to my queries.

    thank you very much.

    it's me,

    peanutRN,

Waiting for replies to your queries, because I have same plans. I,m taking the VT nclex nxt month but will apply for reciprocity in NJ where my relatives are. Can you please tell me the steps you underwent, from the time you passed the NCLEX to the stage where you are now. I dont intend to go thru an agency because i have a contact employer in NJ but knows little abt reciprocity and stuff. Some also say its going to be less dollars per hour that i will be earning if i go thru an agency. I have a big family to support.

    peanutRN,

I forgot to say congratulations. You've made it this far and I hope you will be leaving for New Jersey soon. Good luck! I will wait for your response.

oh my gawd.. we are all the same haha. I plan to take my nclex in New mexico then after that i will endorse in New jersey. But guys according to suzanne, the moderator here, you will also need the CES to endorse in new jersey. It seems that CES is a requirement in initial licensure and as well as endorsement =(. So while im taking my Nclex i will apply my CES at the same time, hopefully by the time im done and have my license from new mexico, my CES is also done and ready for endorsement. Hope we all can help each other since I'm also a little confused about New jersey here. My thread is in the international forum

how are you all! seems some of us here went/ going through the same process, could i ask you these questions. my goal is eventual new jersey licensure but have the nclex get over with.

    vermont
1.item #5 of instructions for foreign applicants says, “submit a copy of your current license, in good standing, which shows an expiration”. since i'm just a recent board passer and still don't have the license card, can i use the certificate of passing with rating instead of the license? in case i can't, any other alternatives? in relation to this, do i have to have the copy which i shall be sending (either of the license or cp) be certified as true copy?
2.at the last part of the application, ssn is being asked? could i leave it blank and still have the application approved?

    new jersey
1.item #3 says, “ you must provide your ssn to the board or committee. failure do so will result in denial/ non-renewal of licensure or certification”. is it really needed or could i leave it blank and still sit for the exam or have a license be issued ?
2.item #9 pertains to the declaration (including license number) of any professional license, “of any kind, any other state, the dc, or in any other jurisdiction”. including my local country?
3.the application packet contains an affidavit. do i need it to be executed at the local us consul?

in your opinion, is it really worth the money and effort to first apply through vermont the nclex exam then just have nj licensure through reciprocity. i mean, in your experience, how many months you surmise is the difference if i pursue the nclex application directly through nj-bon instead. i know through other posts that all these depends on how long it takes the local licensing authorities in issuing the ces license verification. (shout-out to those who have applied the ces license verification locally: how long it takes before they send the verification to cgfns, assuming one already has the license and he/she has applied for it today?). and considering the buzz going all over the place about the nle and final license issuance, it is but reasonable to have other options besides waiting for the darn prc to act reasonably (and timely).

thank you very much for your time

once you pass the nclex in any state, you no longer need ces from cgfns/ichp; you can apply now for licensure by endorsement.

if you still don't have an SSN it is ok to pursue an application in VT.
they won't mind at all but i guess they need a copy of your license.
in vt bon, they usually process less than a month if you have all the
requirement specially if you have the cgfns certificate.

i am now waiting for my license. i recently had my livescan through sagem morpho at nj bon's office in newark; i also submitted my SSN and changed my address.

hopefully,i hope i have my license by next week. i just need to contact the person in charge of my documents. she is just waiting for the result of my
    criminal history background check.

    i guess it's worth it. :-)

nj bon also process application eventhough you don't have the
SSN but you need to have a CGFNS Certificate before you're application to be approved.

    hope this helps.

Hello everyone, I have the same problem with Sakuji. I am planning to take New Mexico instead of Vermont though. WE both passed here recently and the current issue regarding the nursing board exam is making us confused on what to do because certain forms need our licenses which are not issued yet.

    Question to peanutRN:
    1. Are you a filipino citizen? I'm just wondering to see if we all have the same background, being an immigrant might be different.
    2. If I do pass my New Mexico exam, I plan to apply Licensure by Endorsement in New Jersey.
    a. Do I have to have SS# to endorse?
    b. Do I need the CES from cgfns to endorse? Because suzzane said CES is also a requirement for Licensure by endorsement. You said NO, I just want to confirm because the BON of NJ haven't replied yet to my email for a week now.

"nj bon also process application eventhough you don't have the
SSN but you need to have a CGFNS Certificate before you're application to be approved." ---- What does this mean? I need the CGFNS certification or CES from cgfns? I thought NJ will process your file and there's no need for CES? I am confused.. sorry I am asking for Licensure by Endorsement by the way

Sakuji: We really have the same problem. I am also wondering if its worth the effort and money to apply in New Mexico then endorse in New Jersey. But if Licensure by Endorsement won't require CES then applying to New Mexico will be worth it for me. I haven't applied my CES because I don't know what to do yet haha.

Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it.

Sorry but you are 100% wrong. NJ still requires the CES to endorse, same way that most other states require it. NY requires the CVS even to endorse.

And the CGFNS Certificate is no longer needed. Please take the time to do some research first.

If you applied before May 1, 2006, then you needed the CGFNS Certificate even to endorse.
For both initial licensure and endorsement.

Since that time, New Jersey requires the CES for initial licensure and endorsement.

Please take a look at their updated website.

I don't mean to give wrong information about the people posting in this site but what I am telling is about my own experience. I did not submit any CGFNS certificate nor did my co-workers here in NJ who have their licensure from California and Saipan endorsed to NJ BON. (Knowing that California and Saipan don't need CES from CGFNS/ICHP)
The last time I contacted the one processing my application, she just needed my livescan and ssn, and told me she can licensed me accordingly if she have both.
My co-worker who holds a license in california has a hard time getting his license from new york that is why he needs to move from a hospital in n.y. to a nursing home here in n.j., the hospital in n.y. gave him 2months to submit his license or show them his interim permit and n.y. bon did not issued him the license or permit,
but when he tried to applied to n.j. bon, in 2 weeks time, they issued it to him, granted that he requested a licensure verification from california bon since it is not included in the nursys.
i also forgot to mention that since vermont is included in nursys, i just send nursys the form and $30, and when i was still in the phils., and checked with nj bon, they had it already since it is an ONLINE VERIFICATION. the reason i wasn't able to get it in phils., is because i don't have an SSN, that is why I am telling the applicants that you can leave it blank if you don't have one and I did not submit my fingerprint cards because the process is expedited when you have the livescan through sagem morpho here in new jersey because you can't do it if you are out of state..

I stand to be corrected but I hope I am not 100% wrong. :-)

YES I AM STILL A FILIPINO CITIZEN by HEART and MIND :-), though I am already a permanent resident here in the U.S.
    2. If I do pass my New Mexico exam, I plan to apply Licensure by Endorsement in New Jersey.
    a. Do I have to have SS# to endorse? NO,just leave it blank. You'll get an SSN once you got here in the U.S., two weeks more or less after your entry.
    b. Do I need the CES from cgfns to endorse? Because suzzane said CES is also a requirement for Licensure by endorsement. You said NO, I just want to confirm because the BON of NJ haven't replied yet to my email for a week now.
I have a reply to suzanne's post... please read that one.. which is my own experience..
maybe you'll get an idea on how nj bon process documents for licensure by endorsement...
