NJ Licensure by Endorsement

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

i am peanut, 22 years old and an RN from the Philippines. I currently hold a license from the State of Vermont and I am going to apply for a licensure by endorsement in NJBON.. now, my dilemma is i am still here in the philippines, i read the post about if you're not subjecting yourself for a livescan, it takes about 3-4 months for the process? I am now awaiting for my packet 4 which i don't have any idea when will it arrive,

my packet 3 has been completed last jan.24,2006. I still don't have my SSS no. since my agent will be forwarding it together with the packet. Can I ask for your advice on what shall i do? should i file it already while here in the phils. or just there in NJ? How about the license verification? Shall I use the nursys? VT is included. I hope you can shed light to my queries.

thank you very much.

it's me,

I'm just bringing back this post guys, i have the same problem. Is there anyone who has endorsed to new jersey from vermont recently? I'm not an immigrant and I'm still in the Philippines. I hope I can endorse to jersey, if i pass the vermont nclex that is..thanks guys!

hey.. i found this thread very informative and a bit confusing at the same time.. i recently got my licence form vermont state.. i just passed the exam this november. and i originally wanted to apply for endorsement for the new jersey state.. but when i downloaded the form for endorsement for nj state.. it states that they need social security number.. since i am just staying in the states as a tourist, its apparent that i cant have a ssn #.. so i found an agency from new york that would sponsor me and applied for the NY BON instead since i already applied for CGFNS verification for the new york state about 4 months ago.. i really like new jersey but i guess it'll have to wait.. right now, m still waiting on my new york license.. hopefully i wont be waiting too long for it.. does someone here know what the time frame is for NYBON license via endorsement? thanks!

It took around 3 month for mine !:nono:

wow, that's a long time.. so wen does your license expire(from the date of issuance)?

Hello ,

2 years from date of issue

thanks :monkeydance:

Hello I got my license in NJ by endorsement from vermont. They didnt require me a CES from CGFNS and TOEFL. All they ask was my license verification from vermont, fingerprint, application form with payment and my SSN..I guess I got lucky that I found a facility who petitioned me and my lawyer hurriedly submitted my application to the USCIS before retrogression.

Hey guys!

Here's my story. I am a permanent resident here in US and am originally from the Philippines and was educated there. I just recently passed the NCLEX-RN for the Board of California which I took in NJ. Then I decided to stay and practice my profession here in NJ. I immediately mailed the application packet for the licensure by endorsement in NJ and sent it already. I would just like to know if:

1) Do I need to work/have experience in California first before I can have my license here in NJ?

2) How long will it take to process the application(licencure by endorsement) I just sent?

3)Do I still need to take the CGFNS exam?

4) Is there a way I can work while I wait for the license? Because I have been looking around for a job and they all require a NJ license.

Thanks in advance!!

Leny

Hi leny, these are my answers:

1. No

2. I cannot be certain about that. If you live in NJ, I will not recommend that you just call them because it could not be of much help. Just go to their office. I was accommodated very well when I went there. They were nice to me. But make sure that you bring all the necessary documents with you. After you have submitted your forms and payment, you should be getting a paper from them regarding fingerprinting at Sagem Morpho. After fingerprinting, my license number was issued to me "over the phone" when I called them about a month later.

3. No, but they require a CES from CGFNS. Also, they might require you to submit a copy of your permanent resident card and Social Security card before issuing you your license.

4. You have to call the HR or ask the Nurse Manager about that. NJ BON is not known for processing license applications very quickly---and the thing is, they don't give out temporary licenses either.

Hope this helps!

Sorry but you are 100% wrong. NJ still requires the CES to endorse, same way that most other states require it. NY requires the CVS even to endorse.

And the CGFNS Certificate is no longer needed. Please take the time to do some research first.

If you applied before May 1, 2006, then you needed the CGFNS Certificate even to endorse.

For both initial licensure and endorsement.

Since that time, New Jersey requires the CES for initial licensure and endorsement.

Please take a look at their updated website.

Suzanne,

Do you need ss# to obtain INITIAL Licensure in New Jersey. In application form they are looking for ss# also work authorisation card???

Exactly, you also need a visa that will permit you to work. That is required for you to be able to get a SSN#.

No actual license issued without a SSN#.

So.. like california, who needs SSN for a license to be issued... how can i endorse to NJ? Do i need to get an employer first? then get the work permit before i can endorse to NJ? Thank you very much!

Need to meet requirements to endorse and usually includes foreign nurse requirements. Do not need an employer to endorse but be aware of retrogression and long delays ahead and may find it hard to find employer due to retrogression.
