Muhlenberg's Accelerated Nursing Program

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hi Everyone! Is anyone planning to do muhlenberg's accelerated program starting in january 2012?

Hi, I am applying for the accelerated nursing program for Jan 2012. I am taking the teas v exam this coming saturday july 23. I really hope I get in. I found out about the deadline a few weeks ago. And I am still working on getting all the necessary requirements by Aug 1st. Have you been accepted already?

Yes, I have been accepted. Good luck with everything! I hope everything works out.

I am applying to Muhlenberg's accelerated program for jan. 2012 as well. I am going to send my application out this week. I was told that you have to send the application out before August 1st, but you have until September 15th to get the missing documents in, like transcripts. Did they give you your test date to take the teas, soon after they receive your application, or when everything in your application is complete? Good luck on your exam. Are you going to take the test for the Math of Pharmacology exam to place out of it? And did you finish all of your pre-req classes because I am currently taking child psychology this summer, and scheduled to take micro-biology this fall. Do you think they will accept me in the accelerated program, being that I will not be finished with micro-biology until december?

@ tlbstar congratulations on your acceptance!! How long did you wait for a response? And how was the entrance exam?? I am so nervous about that, I really hope I do well. @tinamarie176 You have to go to atitesting.com and register to take the exam. And from what I undertand if you still have classes to take you can take them while you are taking your clinicals. Im taking microbiology and organic chem in the fall and union county.

Thank you very much! So, the deadline was March 1st and a couple of weeks later they sent my test date, which was April 9th. I received my acceptance letter maybe two weeks after I took the test. They seem to move pretty quickly... The entrance exam wasn't bad, it was basic math, reading comprehension, grammar, and critical thinking. I bought the study guide and it was helpful as far as knowing what to expect.

By the way, if you want to do the accelerated program you have to be done with ALL of your general courses before you start your nursing classes. They will accept you as accelerated eligible until you complete all general courses though. If you do the traditional route then you can take general and nursing courses at the same time.

Hi sdeme1229

Did you hear anything back from Muhlenberg. How did you do on the teas exam. I am trying to take the test on the 26th. I just starting studying so I want to give myself so time. I also handed in my application last week, so I was late with that. Are you applying for accelerated as well?

Applied and accepted! I actually have a few prereqs to get out of the way in September because I got a little screwed, lol. (Chem for health sciences, intro to sociology, child psych, and a humanities) But I start the nursing classes in January. I am taking my NURM 100 challenge exam next week too.

I cant wait until January when I can quit my current miserable job and go to school full time.

when were you accepted. How long did it take for you to get a letter back. I did not take the teas yet and I am still waiting on a transcript. So you have to take all of those classes this fall to start the accelerated program. I just handed in my app last week, so I was late doing that, and right now I am taking child psychology. My last class is micro biology. When you did your bachelor degree did you take general chem, if so do they count that towards chemistry they need.

It took them about 5 weeks after my results came in for them to send my acceptance letter. I think the delay was that I was in the very first batch of applicants and there were a lot of us sitting for the exam PLUS it was getting towards the end of the semester so they might have been busy with other things as well.

I ended up having to take all those classes because I had never taken child pysch, never took intro to soc, somehow I finished my BS without taking more than one transferrable humanities class (which is sad but make me LOL because I am taking MUSIC APPRECIATION), and the chem ticked me off because I had taken CHEM 123 and 124 at MCC years ago. I was within the 10 years BUT since it was not the same exact class material as Chem for Health Sciences they will not accept it. So my higher level chem doesnt seem to cut the mustard for some stupid reason. Other than that specific gripe I expected the rest.

I had only decided to go for nursing about a year ago. I was a little too late to register for anything in the summer so I started with A&P I at MCC last fall. (If I had know about chem I would have taken that as well). I applied while I was still taking AP II and Micro this spring. Like someone else already said, as long as everything is done before you start in January there is no issue. But if you are taking classes up till that point like me, make sure you dont slack off and you meet the requirements to pass those classes. That being said, I'm not too concerned. I mean... music appreciation? REALLY? LOL

wldcard,

I hope they take my general chemistry from rutgers. I took both parts and it was hard. Congrads on your acceptance. I started my pre-reqs last year in fall at middlesex county college. How did you do on your Teas Exam. I have to register for it still. I want to take it at the end of this month. I just started studying a little, but since Im studying for my summer class, I am trying to focus on the teas as well. I took A&P2 in the summer and it killed me. I ended up with a B+ i was one point away from an A, so maddd:mad:. I graduated from rutgers in 2010, and decided I wanted to go for nursing and that I needed to be serious. I wish I was a bit more focused then. I am so anxious about getting in because I have to pay a 1000 that I owe my school for my transcripts, since there was some screw up when I left the dorm early, so my loan didnt cover it, so now I have to get the money up before the deadline, which is september 15. I hope I get accepted because I do not want to wait until next fall. I was thinking of applying to trinitas just in case they do not accept me. I am so nervous. But I am so focused now more than I have ever been. How do you feel about the accelerated program? Did you hear any experiences about it being that it is one year, fast-paced, and full-time? Do you know how many people they except for the program? Did you have orientation yet or is it at a later date? Have you met people who have been accepted into the accelerated program?

@tinamarie,

I would check into the chem thing. I can almost garuntee they will tell you the same thing they told me. Don't worry about the A&P grades; I got a B in both and they took me. I dont remember my exact TEAS scores at this point but I was well over the min that they required (somewhere in the 93-98th percentiles for all areas except one I think). Dont let the TEAS freak you out; its cake. Get the official review book and brush up on the basics.

I havent heard too much about the accelerated program itself but I have had a few friends who graduated from the generic program and they loved it. I havent heard anything about orientation as of yet.

I can tell you that the anticipation is starting to kill me though lol.
