Lady of Lourdes for new RN?

  1. Hi everyone! I just passed my boards in October 11th and still waiting for my license to arrive...Finished school in PA so I haven't had any experience with the hospitals in NJ and don't know where to apply as a new grad. I live in Burlington County and I am considering Lourdes in Willingboro (it is very close to me) but I have heard that their nurse patient ratio on a Med-Surg floor is 1 to 10. That scares me already! Could anyone tell me if that is true, and if they are helpful to new grads, how long their orientation is, pay, and working there in general. I do want to work Med-Surg for my first year.
My next two options are Virtua Memorial in Mt. Holly and Cooper. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on passing and welcome........I unfortunately do not have info on the particular facility you are interested in, but I can tell you from experience where I am that on a tele/step down unit..ratio is 1:6. One thing you want to research is orientation...at my facility there is a three month orientation..hope that helps some.

Hey WOLFE!! I will be there too. I am new orientee now.

Lourdes will pay $25.56/hr for new RN for day shift. ( you also can get $10000 for new RN and sign contact for a year) They keep tell me that their orientation program will take up to 6 weeks. Anyway, some people may not need 6 weeks. I 've already worked as RN in my home country so i might need less than 6 wks.

    Hope this help.

If I read correctly you are a new grad... They have a new grad orientation called the START program and I think it was 12 weeks if I'm not mistaken. I did an externship there and the new grads loved it. Every week they had a different topic and had a seminar on it. They learned lots of new and pertinent nursing stuff and really appreciated the extended learning with orientation. This program is for all new grads regardless of the unit you work on (ask the recruiter about it). It's actually one of the best orientation programs I've heard of.

Their med/surg telemetry unit has a 1:6 ratio.
