Hi! This is my first post on all nurses... I am starting the accelerated nursing program at JFK Muhlenberg in January (2014) looking for any advice from fellow JFK students or looking to find people who are also starting JFK accelerated in January. Any tips, advice, comments appreciated!

do not get behind on your studying. your classmates will see the most of you for the year. ask your instructors if you dont understand something. nursing school tests are not like any other tests you' ve seen before. go see the advisor ms campell for advice on tests. let me know if you have more questions

how long after you applied did you find out that you got in?

i applied in the beginning of this year and found out in may I was accepted

HI! Congrats on getting into the program! I'm brand new to this site so please forgive me. I was wondering if you would answer some questions. I'm also looking at the accelerated bsn as I already have a bachelors in biochemistry. Are they very strict about the prerequisites? I obviously took a lot of chemistry for my previous degree but well over 5 years ago. But I have work experience in the field (9 years). Can you still get accepted to the program even if you don't meet all the prereqs in the traditional sense? Would they look at work experience?

I am taking a&pI now and will take a&pII and micro next semester.

I need to talk to someone in the program to answer all the questions that I have, do any of you know who I can contact? Sorry for all the questions, just so new to me and trying to figure it all out.

Thank you and again congrats on getting in!

Hi guys! I really NEED your feedback for those in the accelerated program in Muhlenburg. I got accepted for the spring, but still haven't took chem105 and two extra psych classes. Do I have to take those this spring and then start clinicals next spring? I'm confused...how long would it take me to finish? Also is it true that you can take the Nclex afterwards? Is the program expensive, is it worth it? All details please, I really need help deciding if this is the worth it.

Muhlenberg is an accelerated diploma problem. You still take the rn nclex. But its not bsn. You must meet the pre reqs before you begin. They may let u test out of some but i dont know. Work exp doesnt count.

I am starting the accelerated program in January 2014 as well as long as I pass the NURM 100 challenge exam on Dec 17th. Has anyone taken that?

Hi,

I start the accelerated program in Spring 2015 and I'm worried about falling behind on my studies mainly. Any suggestions on what to read up on before starting? I've been reading the Physical Examination & Health Assessment textbook but I wish I had an outline of things that are must FOCUS.

Hopefully someone will be able to help! Thanks!! =)

I was a former student of their RN program, the environment is great, the peers are great as well. I just did not enjoy the fact that they kept altering the program and courses around. That was absolutely horrible. I wasted money on their 119 class and they ended up elimating it from the program or tried to just because many students were failing it. It just did not make sense. The class I started off with was 60 people, and ended up with 30 because of issues with the program. And there is this one assistant clinical instructor Mrs.Jones who treated students as if they know abolutely nothing or lacked common sense. It was just traumatizing. Other than that there are great professors but I just hope they improved their program eventually and made it more consistent. Good luck.

I have been preparing to apply to accelerated nursing programs for the last year or so (a LOT of pre-reqs needed) and am finally getting close to the end. I understand that Mulenberg does not offer an accelerated BSN program, but does have the the associates program in which nursing courses can be completed in 3 semesters. I completed the gen ed and science coures they require to be taken in the fall so I am wondering if anyone knows if these coures are complete if you can start in the spring with the nursing program?

Also, in regards to having a BSN, I know everyone says it is a must to get a job. I would love to get into an accelerated BSN program but they are extremely competitive and most start in the fall, so I would have to put if off until Fall 2017 (unless I can get into Rutgers which is a long shot). My question is, if I already have a bachelor's and get an AS, would my previous education help me to get a job? If I did get an AS, I would plan to enter and RN to BSN program, but I would like to begin working so I can pay for it.

Also, in regards to Mulengerg, has anyone done accelerated nursing program straight to their pathways to BSN program? If so, how long did it take?

Thanks everyone!
