I give up!

I live in ocean county and can not find a job anywhere at all. I have applied at every single kind of healthcare facility imaginable and I put applications in every day and also to the same places over and over again. The same places are constantly posted on careerbuilder saying they are looking for LPN's and I keep applying but I hear nothing! Maybe they wouldnt need to keep looking if they just started hiring some people starting with me! I always put that I am available to work any shift all days and I can start right away but that doesn't help at all. I have some LPN per diem experience and CNA experience plus RN reference's but nothing matters. I wasted my time in nursing school when I should have went to school for something else.

Sorry but I just needed to vent

No job yet :( I'm going to a job fair in a few days so I'm praying that works out good!

Good job with the job fair, but just a head's up, if you can go there before the job fair, fill out the application and drop off a copy of your resume, get the name of the DON, before the job fair. I have heard that sometimes they hire before job fairs.

Hi NMlpn2rn,

I am also in Ocean county I actually moved hoping that with the volume of nursing homes and assisted living here one would give me a chance but oh boy.. and i think i've applied to all nursing homes and assisted livings out here all the way down to freehold. It's really depressing and now i'm just thinking about CNA i hope they wont tell me i'm overqualified cause I really need to go back to the working field. How did the job fair go? I went to a couple of job fairs and did receive some rejection. job fairs and nursing homes would even ask me if I have experience before they hand me the application when I said no they were all like " oh we need someone with experience lalalalla.." :( but let me know though how it goes for u. Good luck!

Ocean County used to be a great place for LPN's experienced or not to find work. When I was a cna I saw brand new LPN's who just graduated get hired all the time.I knew I wanted to be a nurse too but unfortunately I waited way to long to go to school so by the time I was an LPN the world/economy was a completely different situation and nothing is easy anymore. I feel like this LPN license is pretty useless since from what I see and here every employer wants an RN with a bachelors degree so that's what i'm going to do. Ill work home care with its unsteady paychecks and what not while I go back to school and take care of my family at the same time.I know that sounds like a lot but I have no choice. the positive thing is that since I already have my LPN license then it won't take as long getting to RN because of the LPN to RN bridge programs that are out there.

Really?they only hire RN with Bachelors degree?:( I thought an Asooc. degree or ADN would be enough so long as you have the RN license. Oh boy, I checked out Ocean County College they the LPM-RN bridge program but you need to get at least 6 months experience as an LPN to be in that program and so you can challenge Nursing ! etc. I was just gonna do the traditional RN already and repeat couple of Nursing subjects to be in the AAS program..Oh boy!! yahoo should make it clear that RN is only in demand if you have Bachelors degree. Anyway, Good Luck with the Bachelors degree it is a good option though I would get that If I can but its just too long for me.

I'm sure there's places that will hire an RN without their bachelors degree I was just frustrated and going by what I see while job searching and what I hear from people in the nursing career. I wouldn't let it discourage you at all from doing what you were gonna do.I wish I was an RN with at least an associates but I'm an LPN from a diploma program or whatever you wanna call it so there's not to many options for me. Good luck to you though!

Never give up! Apply in person, get the HR managers name and number and follow up weekly. Consider a professional resume service....Volunteer, network...join the medical reserve corps. Good luck!

I also am an LPN & live in Ocean County. I moved here because of no work in Atlantic, Cumberland or Salem Counties. The Agencies that I worked for said the places were cutting back. So we move here. But I interviewed with three agencies the last one had work and I was going to complete the paperwork, when chest pains hit. To make a long story shot I have to have by pass surgery and am now just getting back on my feet. I reapplied to the agency but now I probably have to have knee surgery. ( Note: Don't get old.) But I know that agency is hiring. Do you follow up you application with a letter and phone call? This agency may not pay as well as you like but It will train you in trach and vent for both adult and child. They also have continuing education with free CEUs and at lease it's a job. If you private message me, I'll give you the name. It may not be today. But I will get back to you.

What LPN schools did you go to? I live in Wall

I went to OCVTS in Toms River

Keep on going...we are all pulling for you. It is the same for everything. Just to let you know, I used to be a teacher....back in the day of the so-called teacher shortage...sent about 100 or so odd applications for teaching jobs in NJ...I understand the feeling. Keep going strong!

Is anyone still looking for work?
