Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

Hi There!

I also applied for the Fall 2011 Nursing program at GCC.....May I ask what you submitted for your HESI scores and Science scores? I'm just curious to see what the app pool looks like! Best of luck to all who have applied! I really can't wait to get a letter in the mail.....the waiting is killing me!

Yay! Someone else joined us, lol. I have to dig out my scores to give you all of them, but I remember about 95% composite and A in my sciences. I think I submitted Micro? How bad is that to not remember! If you want the rest of the scores, I'll look.

Have you completed any pre-reqs? What are you taking this semester?

I'm not applying for any other classes next semester at this point. I'm not going to go full-time and get a deferred loan until the second year so we are hoping to drum up the money to pay for everything for this year. Ugh.

I think I ended up getting a 93% for my composite score, and A's in Chem and Bio....so we will hopefully see each other in the fall!

I took A&P I, nutrition, and Psychology of Human Development......I was planning on taking A&P II in the summer, but now I figure I will take it in the fall. There is a hybrid class that is once a week.....so hopefully that will be okay with the nursing classes (IF I get in). Then I plan on Taking Micro in the spring (Also a hybrid class that's only once a week)........Those are the only classes I have left besides Nursing classes. (I have a BA in another field, so I have a tone of electives done already!).

Welcome nurd163! Glad to have someone else join us in this thread :)

I unfortunately scored an 84% composite on the HESI but I have A's in all my sciences. I'm hoping to be accepted into the program. The wait is so nerve-racking!! My pre-reqs will be finished next semester, I just have to take psy of human development and a humanities elective which will most likely be ethics. What did you guys take for your humanities elective?

If your referring to GCC's day care here's a link: http://www.gccnj.edu/ce/ecec/

GOOD LUCK!

Nurd, Funny that you chose 'nurd' as part of your sn. That's one of two names that my boys like to call me. The other is 'old', lol. They LOVE their mom!

Danni, I have Geography and Spanish here at GCC. I also have statistics from Rutgers and Art and I forget what else from BCC. So I haven't even given the humanities much thought!

I really loved A & P, both of them. Then of course Micro was great fun! The sciences are definitely my favorite and then Spanish. The other stuff, well, they're the means to an end, lol.

We should know in 12 days!

Cynthia~ when you say BCC do you mean Burlington County College?

Funny thing~ i went to one of their info sessions for their nursing program and i mean the college is pretty far from me like about 50 minutes. I live in sewell right near GCC. Come to find out I couldn't even apply to BCC since they only accept in county students who are finished with their pre-reqs. To me it seems like that program is really easy to get into if you are an in county student.

but anyway~ i also loved AP 1 and 2. Who did you have Cynthia?

I had *****~ loved her :) And ***** who was awesome.

Micro was by far my favorite!

I like spanish too and I'm going to consider taking spanish for the health professionals. It seems both beneficial and fun :)

AHH 12 more days~ i'm so nervous.

Yes, I went to Burlington County a lifetime ago, lol. I really know nothing about their nursing program. I wonder how good it is.

I had ***** for A & P for both semesters. I loved her teaching style and did great in her class. I've never even heard of ****, lol. I really love Spanish as well. If you've had it at all, you shouldn't find the Medical Professional class difficult. Profesora **** makes it interesting.

Hi Everyone!

I also applied for Fall 2011 at GCC.I'm so nervous and trying not to get my hopes up.I submitted my AP II grade which was an A, but my hesi composite score was a 84.5.The same thing happened to me Dannipoint,I took the hesi twice and my scores were better the second time but I didnt meet the min in conclusions:(.I'm finished all my pre-reqs so if I get in I just have to focus on the nursing courses.Best of luck to everyone:)!

:w00t:

Good luck to every applicant. Notification day soon approaches. . .

For some reason, I have met several people who did not make the minimum on the conclusions/implications.......when I took the test the second time (Took it a total of 3....first time was waaaaay back in August before I evens started going back to school!) I didn't get the minimum on the conlusions or implications either. In my opinion, there are 2 answers that can work, and we must have just picked the wrong one! ugh!

I wonder how the job outlook is when students are graduating? I'm hearing that hospitals are only hiring BSN nurses......makes me nervous! Anyone hear anything about that?

yea I guess I wasn't prepared for the reading enough the second time around.I tried to focus on the subjects I needed to improve on, I thought that reading would be easy, but I guess it can be very tricky.

I'm hearing the same thing.I know a lot of people that went to four year schools and have their BSN and have not even found jobs yet. They have been out of school for a year now.Hospitals are telling them they want someone with experience. Most of the people are working in nursing homes because they cant find anything else..it's crazy because I thought there was such a need for nurses.Makes me nervous too, but hopefully it gets better soon!
