Getting a License by Endorsement in NJ

  1. 0
Hello. I just passed the NCLEX in NY and have a NY RN license number. I am relocating to NJ in the next month or two and was wondering how long it would take to get a NJ license by endorsement? I sent the proper paperwork in already with the $140 money order. The board of nursing told me that it takes 6-8 weeks to process paperwork. Does anyone know if it takes longer than that?

Any input would really help me.....

the one good thing nj does do, is that the board will fax your employer verification. so even if you haven't received the paper copy yet, this should suffice until it comes in the mail.

where in nj are you moving to? what hospital do you have in mind?

    best wishes,

I am moving to Middlesex County and am interested in Raritan Bay, St. Peter's, Bayshore, or CentraState. Any inside info you can provide to me? I think St. Peter's pays $54K w/diff The other hospitals I am not sure of. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

st peter's is by far better than the others.

according to the nj 2004 hospital report, they scored 4th for cardiac care and 8th for pneumonia care in the state. impressive numbers!

    they'd be my choice!

You can go on the NJ board of nursing site- New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs
Then download & print the forms for the lic by endorsement. You have to fill them out, get it notarized and send in a check..a few weeks later, the Board of nursing will contact you with details about getting your fingerprints done. It took about 6 weeks for the initial contact and then 4 weeks after the fingerprints to get the actual license. It's definitely a bit of a process..but its doable. Good luck!

hey everyone, im really hoping someone can help me with a few concerns i have....i am a nj resident and i was looking into a college in florida (remington college of nursing)....it's CCNE accredited.....my concern is that if i attend this college, and take my NCLEX and get licensed in FL....can i get my license endorsed to NJ? because i heard that not every state endorses licenses from ALL other states....and also would i be required to take the NCLEX again in NJ?? does the endorsement process have any extra clauses....such as, i have to be working for atleast XYZ amount of time under my RN license for FL? or i have to take extra classes/exams to be licensed in the state of NJ? i am reallly concerned abt all of these ?s before i make my final decision about this college.....i plan on calling the board of nursing tomorrow to find out....but sometimes it just helps to get support from the population who has already been where you are now....experiences do say alot....and i was hoping someone could share their experience/knowledge to address my concerns....thank you!

NJ recognizes schools CCNE approved schools.
You can take NCLEX anywhere + have results sent to NJ BON along with having school transcripts sent to them to have license approval for initial licensure in NJ. You do not have to get FLA license at all if not planning to work there, eliminating need for endorsement.

See info links at top of forum for BON.
