I was hoping if anyone went to Center of Allied Health and Nursing Education in Hackensack, NJ and if so I need to know about the Exit Exam. I failed the exit exam just took a few days ago with an 83 an dpassing is 85 as you should know. When you fail the exam and you come back to take it again do you get the same version? Are the exams basically similar the 2nd time around? Would love to know

The Center for Allied Health and Nursing/Trenton Location:

Do not attend this school, it is solely to generate money! It is a majority minority student school who takes advantage of the desperate, driven, & impoverished individuals. Because they are more likely to qualify for total grant money, the school is allotted total tuition. The problem is, they are accepting students that doesn't pass the entrance, after they have received payment twice to take it over! Secondly, they have a quota of 3+ students to retain despite of average, plus letting ones pass that didn't pass test in order to keep getting most of their dispersed loan/grant. The school also claims no one is passing the exit exam! (I wonder why??!!) There are not any real labs, no supplies, or knowledgable instructors!! One instructor accepted bribe by her students w/ gifts...skip this

place! The clinicals were fine, but the instructors really don't show you anything

other than how to wash your hands! Only 2 people were sent to take the NCLEX, they are hand picking ones to take the board...2 LPNs in 1 1/2 years out of hundred of students!!!!

@ tidi i would have loved to go to a traditional RN program but in NY there are not a ton of nursing schools and mostly all of them have a waiting list for 2 years. There are about 50 seats for 600 people to apply, esp. in community colleges. I feel like i did my research before making any decisions and i do not have time to waste . As soon as i get my license I'm going straight to a rn program on campus or online. hopefully while in in the program the economy will pick up and i could work as a lpn.

@induetime7...i thought the trenton location just opened??? or is it ewing??

That is not true. There are plenty(at least 10 that i know of) of licensed nurses from my class(which was only 20 total), however NONE of us have jobs.

@LadyNikki

I promise that you can find nursing schools that cost around the same amount that don't have a waiting list. I will help you myself if your interested! Please don't waste your time. I'm doing what you plan on doing (going straight to online school) but it ends up costing almost DOUBLE when its all said and done.

PM me if you want me to help you out. I can't stress to you enough how they are phasing out new LPN's completely in New york and New Jersey. This is not a myth. Don't get me wrong, of course you will run into some LPNs but they are the veterens. All the new grads are working in other fields because we've gave up trying after all this time.

Just wanted to help some new grads, experienced professionals

I have been going thru the threads and it amazes me how people are being so negative and discouraging. Regardless of how your saying you are just trying to help people not make the same mistakes or what ever it is discouraging. Many of the post are from individuals that have went thru programs, finished and have their Licenses whether its LPN, RN AS, or RN BSN. Yes there may be a current shortage of jobs in LPN or RN but they are not non-existant. To tell someone to not purse a career goal or to alter their path because you are having a hard time finding a job is just ridicules in my opinion; just my :twocents:.

Every profession is having a hard time finding employment right now. I dont hear Doctors telling New Grad Doctors not to purse this specialty because the hospitals aren't hiring for that. Or Lawyers discouraging New Grad Lawyers because of this same problem.

I on the other hand will still pursue my goal and god willing start my LPN program in November or January which every one works out the best for me. Then do my LPN-RN Bridge program and so on and so forth.

I would encourage new grads having a hard time to try and start Volunteering or find internships at hospitals and nursing homes to get some kind of experience. Doctors and Lawyers do it (Called Fellowships sometimes for up to 2yrs with no pay) sometimes before they get offered postions.

IDK I just thought my thoughts...:yeah:

Hi Tidi, I think you have it backwards. Most of the research I've done and from what I've been told is that there is a freeze for RN hiring because of the economy. Most hospitals do not hire LPN's but most nursing homes do which is where I've seen many job listings. Besides RN's make more than LPN's so it's cheaper to hire Lpn's.

As for the Center for Allied Health and Nursing...I'm a current student and overall I think it's decent. Every school is going to have some issues and yes it is expensive but it's right in line with the other competition. The teachers are ok but I agree that they need to work on the teaching standards and other administrations stuff.

Bklyn Butterfly 86...Good luck and I hope you like it!

Thank you Supersage

Hey everyone, I passed my entrance exam and am scheduling my interview. As far as the postings, I am getting mixed feelings. I see most are complaining about the exit exam.. is it really that difficult? and 2, are the teachers really getting bribed and all this favoritism?

I plan on working as an LPN, getting in the union and let the union pay for the LPN to BSN program..or at least let the union pay part of it.. is anyone following my footsteps? Would love to hear from people who are planning to grow in the field and/or who have done the same thing I am planning to..

Look forward to hearing from you guys :)

I plan on starting on October 25th 2010 the day program :)

Thanks :)

Congratulations on passing..

We are both on the same path :yeah: I wanna get into a bridge LPN to BSN program as well Hopefully getting into the same union as my mother. As far as the exit exam from what I got from the enrollment adviser I spoke to its an accumulation of everything where gonna learn so I'm just gonna keep studying and stay positive. My niece just graduated from LIU BSN Nursing program and had to pass an exam to graduate although they didn't call it an exit it was clear it was lol.

My interview is this friday Im so excited and nervous at the same time. Plan on getting into the November 8th evening program.

I wanted to come on here and see what everyone had to say about the school before I decided to go.. i"m very nervous I take my test on Friday and I pray I pass it. I just moved here and almost all the states have a 2 year waiting list for the Rn program at any school community college or a university. I feel like my time is limited if I get into this school I will further my career besides it will be easier to start as a LPN then transition to RN. I'm already a medical assistant the more i accomplish the better.
