Any Seton Hall or William Paterson nursing students out there?

U.S.A. New Jersey

I applied to Bloomfield College, Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing, and Rutgers. I didn't get accepted to Rutgers, and Mountainside had already accepted their desired amount of applicants. I did do very well on the NET, and they told me that I would be accepted to the school with my test scores. They are going to be interviewing again in the Fall of 2005. (so I'll have them as a backup). Bloomfield College told me that I won't be accepted for this year, but I would definitely be accepted for Fall 2006. The thing is I like Bloomfield College, but I'm not sure if it's the school for me...it's very, very small. I have also been hearing great things about Seton Hall and William Paterson University's nursing programs. I decided to start the paperwork, for each school. Are there any Seton Hall or William Paterson nursing students out there????

my sister goes to william paterson...the only thing she complains about is that there is no social life there (which is good if you're in nursing school).

I looked into the nursing programs at WPU and Seton Hall, and they both seem like really good programs. I know the WPU program takes a very limited number of candidates per year because they do not have enough teachers, but the program has a great reputation.

I looked at Seton Hall but it was so expensive.

I am starting @ Bergen Community in the Fall, it was the best way for me to go. It's pretty cheap and I can still work while being in the program and get some hospital experience. I was also accepted to Holy Name Hospital's School of Nursing but it was very expensive and the program was hard to schedule around work because they tell you classes will end around 230-3PM, but my shift at the hospital starts at 3PM, so it was kind of confusing.

Good luck with your choice! There are many programs out there, getting in is tough but hang in there! :)

I checked the last round of NCLEX results on the NJ board of nursing site. Seton Halls pass rate was terrible, something like 60% if I remember correctly.

Would be nice to hear from someone actually in the program.

Really, only 60%. Could you send me the link to the NJBON website. Thanks.

Scroll down to the end of the page, there are tables with all the NJ schools and their pass rates

If this link does not work, go to the board of nursing website, pick the "minutes" link, then pick the "Feb 15, 2005" link which should take you to the same page as the link above.

I am curious what happened. I would hate to think that these students are paying so darn much for an education at Seton Hall (27 grand/year) and then not able to pass boards when they are done!:uhoh21:

I am starting Seton Hall in the Fall 05. I hope this is not true because it is $13,000 per semester that I am going to be paying. I am not even from NJ, I will be traveling from NYC. I got accepted there when the NY schools rejected me. I plan on only taking the NCLEX one time only. Too much money, traveling and time. On the flyers that Seton Hall passes out it said that their pass rate was 100%. I hope this information is up to date.

I start the nursing program at WPUNJ this Fall 2006. I've been going to WPUNJ for a year now. I applied as a undecided student. Therefore, I had to take all the pre-requisites before I could start the program. I applied to the nursing program June of 2005, and got accepted in April 2006. Hard, is one of the words to describe the nursing program at WPUNJ. It is a lot of work. If you aren't willing to work hard, I wouldn't even bother trying to apply to WPUNJ. The program starts only in the Fall. So if you fail nursing one for example, you will have to wait to take nursing that class next fall. You end up losing a year. Also, make sure you have a really good gpa. They take in very few ppl into the program. Once you are in, you have to maintain that GPA. I believe you are only allowed 3 C+'s in the whole 4 years of nursing. And the nursing classes are hard. Once you are in, every semester there is a math test or a physical test that the students have to take. If you fail, iI believe you get kicked out of the program. I know this sounds scary, but its all worth it once you get out of WPUNJ. I believe it is one of the best nursing school in Jersey. The classes at WPUNJ are small. That's one of the plus part about it. I don't know, I still haven't taken any nursing classes yet, so can't say that the professors are great too. But all in all, if you are a hard worker, and are willing to give up your social life.. go for it. Its all worth it in the end. GOOD LUCK!!

Hello everyone,

Well, it's official....I start Seton Hall University in the Fall as a pre-science major. If I do really well, and earn a 3.0 gpa this semester...I'll be accepted into the nursing program. I have a lot of questions about SHU's nursing program....are there currently any SHU nursing students out there...if you are please post.
