underwood memorial hospital

Hello ,

Does anyone work at underwood memorial hospital? Or have you worked there? I just got hired there and wanted to know how they were as an employer. I will be working as a medical assistant while I'm attending nursing school. I haven't accepted the postion yet . just wondering if there the way to go?

thanks

wow
Why you haven't accept the position yet??? Kidding right???
It is very hard to get hired as a Med. Ass. especially in hospital..
MAs have hard time to get in a doctors office without any exp...so don't care about the environment of the hospital..just get the job, the experience and when you will be done with Nursing School you will be hired by them right away...

thanks for your reply.

I've been a medical assistant for 5 1/2 years and I'm certified. (similar cert. to a lpn) so I have a few job opportunties. I wanted to know about the hospital as a whole, and it's work enviorment. believe it or not certified medical assistants work in some hosppitals as patient care tech or in outpatient depts.

Ok..misunderstanding..
I didn't say it is impossible to work as a CMA in hospital. I said it is hard to get in..
I am like you. Along with CMA I have CNA, PHLEB, EKG, CCT, Coding and Billing and some more. I work in hospital but not as CMA.. as a tech..

I just wanted to suggest you to get the job because will count as a experience better than the docs office.. after finishing the nursing school which means for you 3 or 4 years more..
How bad the situation can be there?? I am sorry if I sounded weird..
I didn't mean it..
Good luck..

Underwood is a great place to work, they are very supportive of their staff and you can even get tuition reimbursment for your nursing classes if you are regular part time or fulltime. They bend over backwards for all nursing students (and nurses in general). It is a small family feel type hospital. Alot of opportunities if you play your cards right. You will gain a ton of experience in a hospital. The hospital is growing by leaps and bounds too. They just expanded the ER and added a Wound Center too. Good luck !

thank you so much!!!!!

I haven't went to an orientation yet so I don't even know what benefits are being offered!!! I know it is a blessing for a medical assistant to land any hospital job, but I wanna make a the right decision for the future. I start Gloucester County College in the summer for my pre- reqs and I wanted to make sure that this is a hospital I can grow with!!! Have you ever worked for them ? do you know their benefits?

I attend GCC as well. UMH offers a $10,000 tax-free scholarship in turn for 24 months of unemployment. You must retain a 2.8 GPA while in school and achieve C's in all of your classes.
I was going to take an offer from them but you can only use your $10k for tuition, books, uniforms, and lab fees according to their contract. You must be able to show receipts for everything the money is spent on upon request.
I wanted to pay off some bills but obviously cannot

Good luck in the nursing program...
